    Why Hive? It's not going to save you any money. Think about updating the system to S plan or easier Y plan first. The Mexico is a great boiler but your setup won't have any benefit by fitting Hive. It's easily done to a C plan however if you want it.

    No simple fix I'm afraid. Sounds like water is shorting the electrics on the heating system somewhere.

    I'm more surprised we don't get more idiots doing DIY HIVE having just the fused spur turned off and not frying themselves, and not checking wires are dead. God help them on a system with 2 isolators or the neutral is wired live.

    No need to re-wire anything, maybe use the new HIVE backplate for ease, but the HIVE receiver should fit on that original one you have installed, you have 2 neutrals, 1 live, the yellow is hot water on and the red is heating on, make sure it's an S-Plan as I suspect, 2 valves in airing cupboard...

    What do you want with a dual channel? It's a combi. A clock to serve only heating needs L,N E if req, a common and SL from stat if fitted.

    There might be a fused spur elsewhere, the isolator just isolates the boiler. What's wrong with that? Check valves were the norm years ago on both. What's your problem?
