    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Depends on the number of upstairs rads and how they're connected to the return header. Edit If the cylinder return pipe is rerouted there's still a problem of teeing in at the boiler, very awkward from pic in #26. Maybe easier to tee in between the Spirotrap and the pump boiler return...

Yes, the most stupid comment I've heard for a long time. Persecuted? More appeased and accommodated .

    Mr. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

Quite, what exactly? I'm not siding with Andrew, but it's all allegations and we're supposed to be innocent till proven guilty. It had gone quiet until Virginia Guiffre's book came out, but why is it assumed that that is the gospel truth? The king has said he has sympathy for all victims of...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Of course the best answer is to re-route the cylinder return, but the OP naturally would like to avoid that. And he's tried a check valve and it wasn't great. Unless I'm much mistaken, it would need more than one check valve, perhaps 3 or 4, depending on the pipe layout.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

With the usual set-up, roomstat in a room without a TRV, other rooms controlled by the TRVs, they will be closed when the roomstat is satisfied. In the summer TRVs will be closed. Maybe not a 100% solution, but saves the hassle of rerouting the cylinder return pipe. Best if the room without a...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Another thought on previous post - if you use a timer, having CH times same as HW would be the solution. Unlikely you'll run out of HW during the off period

He'll have a defence counsel because that's the system, however clearcut the evidence is It's relevant because if he hadn't come here (illegally) and been granted asylum, the victim would still be alive

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

OK, my eyes! Neither can I, but a thought occurs. If you have TRVs on all or nearly all the rads, that should stop most of the reverse flow when room temperature is above TRV setting. I leave my CH on 24/7, so on that basis the TRVs are either closed or a bit of heat from the HW doesn't matter...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Boiler feed - is that the boiler flow? Is that the pump - pumped return system? Never seen one like that but I'm just a DIYer. Or some sort of filter? A pic showing more of the surroundings would help. If there's room maybe the up and downstairs returns could be commoned some distance away...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Can you post a photo? Usually the connections are remote from the boiler, into one common return pipe. If it's any help, a couple of pics of my boiler. The 22mm pipe to the left is the rads return, up and downstairs commoned further back. The cylinder return is the top 28mm pipe. Boiler flow...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

I did, but after a rethink I retracted that in post #10. For the nth time, make sure all the rads returns are commoned before the cylinder return :giggle: As I said, the easiest way to achieve it will depend a lot on the house layout.

Help with new heating and hot water system!

I didn't know they were, but if so it's likely to be the fault of the installer.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

You also need to tee the downstairs rads return into the same pipe so that "all the rads returns are commoned before the cylinder return." Not sure what you mean, but the easiest way to achieve it will depend a lot on the house layout.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

OK, I thought the check valve was in the towel rad circuit. Yes, the cylinder return flow can split at Tee 2, part going through the towel rad the wrong way. Repiping as suggested should cure it

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Not with you. I thought the towel rad is getting hot when HW only called. That's the only way you could detect reverse flow, or lack of.
