Best roofing options for low pitch ground floor extension?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm in the preliminary stages of looking into roof renovation and am very interested in Tata's Colorcoat Urban. I saw it at the Nation Self-build and Renovation Centre at Swindon. Does anyone know a rough price for this product and whether it's viable to DIY...

    repainting galvanised steel downpipes

What sort of good quality paint would you use to repaint galvanised steel downpipes? The paint is badly flaked from neglect but the metal underneath is in perfect condition.

How to paint this? Stone interior wall

Personally I love it, but then I find most contemporary schemes very bland and boring and 'uncosy'. One thing to remember though is that it will be easy to paint but very difficult to undo so think hard about it and that it won't be one of those things like pebble dash or arex where you think...

Repainting house with flaking grit paint

Here are some photos, a close up of the textured coating (greyish area to the left is the coating, yellowish area to the right is the bare render underneath where it has flaked off or I've removed it with a wire brush) and one of the full wall.

Repainting house with flaking grit paint

Hi all, I've been putting off painting my house exterior because of the textured paint that the previous owners had applied which I have never figured out how to deal with. Now though it urgently needs to be done as it is flaking off in patches exposing the bare render, which because of the...

How to clean and repolish old parquet floor

Thanks for the guide which I read. I'm still a bit confused about what sort of finish it has on it. I put a drop or two of water on it and it went darker rather than white. Today I tried cleaning the little paint spots off with white spirit which seems to have worked and taken off a lot of...

How to clean and repolish old parquet floor

Thanks very much, I sent for the guide. In an older house I don't think a floor has to look new, plus I fear sanding would involve lifting the blocks and scraping all the bitumen off the back (one in a corner behind furniture was loose and I lifted it out and it was bitumen on the back).

How to clean and repolish old parquet floor

Here's a photo, you can see it is quite dirty but otherwise seems OK. I'd like to keep that sort of colour if possible to fit the retro theme.

How to clean and repolish old parquet floor

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on how to restore an old parquet floor in my living and dining rooms. It is original to the house, from 1948/49 but I'm not sure what sort of wood it is. The previous owners had it covered in carpet, which I have taken up. It's in OK condition for the...

    Boarding over Loft for Storage

Hi Celeste, that does not look like a BISF roof at all to me as a BISF roof has trusses of tubular steel supporting angle-iron purlins, and there are none of those steel members running from eaves to apex or vertical supports directly under the apex. Also, the room layout is wrong for a BISF...

BISF internal insulation thoughts and confirmation

Hi richsmif, what did you do in the end (if you're still around)? I'm in the same situation and was thinking of the same thing, but was a little worried that it could cause condensation problems on the inside of the steel cladding on the surface that faces the wall cavity. I'm interested in...
