Replacing Halogen Lights - whats Live and whats neutral

 Shouldn't take the risk of having the mains on, or was this earlier today? Check the bulbs in the current fitting, they are most likely to be SELV. It sounds like each light has it's own transformer and the supply from these transformers can be used to power the mains light. If it...

    Crimp???

I'll go ahead with my "bodge" then. I'll place a note in the back box that there is a compression joint about 10cm above it. I'll forget the heat-shrink and use only the self a42685686ing tape instead.

    Crimp???

crimping sounds better than using a screwed connector and making it inaccesible. Replacing the cable, really is a problem.

    Crimp???

Would it be better not to use heatshrink then???
  17. M

    Crimp???

Because they look clumsy, it's a bodge? The crimp joins the cable properly. The heatshrink insulates the cores and the self a42685686ing tape provides the second layer of insulation and protects from moisture. What am I missing? Would you not plaster over it because you think the plaster...

    Oh lordy !!!

It seems, that your light has been looped in at the switch. The black ones, go together in a piece of connector strip. The earths should not be twisted together, but still put in the earth terminal. The reds, are the problem because one will be the supply cable to another light, are you sure...
