Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

Thank you for your replies. ScottishGasMan - I agree with you about mechanical expansion. Even though the radiator and pipework not touched by boiler installation, didn't understand why I have mechanical expansion issues now after 20yrs. I isolated vibration to pipework just beneath valve on...

Heating zone causes the banging. So might be motorised valve but not sure how that links to why the noisy radiator bangs whenever I open it next day.

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

From past experience, had banging issues when under-floor heating switched off ( don't use it much as in new extension and insulation very good). I did test once switching on hot water about 30 mins before heating and had no problems with the hot water. Initially put banging down to expansion as...

Thank you for your reply. I was also thinking issue might be motorised valves. ..I can alter the times for each zone and let you know how it goes

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

Thank you for your reply. I can see on a valves there is a push lever to manual setting - I have 3 valves - one on the hot water cylinder, one from flow of house central heating and another valve on flow of underfloor heating - see picture below...

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my experience of the fitter/plumber was exactly as you describe. He is a nice guy but wanted to (as you say) nail the boiler on the wall and leave. He later told me he got some kind of cashback from the manufacturers for fitting a certain volume of boilers...

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

The sound I get is more banging than ticking. I've attached an audio in the previous post. When the system switches on in the morning I get banging in the pipes. Because I thought initially problem was pipe expansion I reduced boiler setting to 15Kw so the house heats up slowly over 30 minutes...

Thank you DP for your reply. When you say a misstep what do you mean? I did ask the Vaillant engineer why I needed an external by pass when the boiler already had an internal bypass and he said the way the pipes were fitted to the boiler didn't provide enough by-pass and was probably why I was...

thank you for your replies. Harry Bloomfield - I had the same idea as you. But the boiler power setting has been reduced to 15KW from auto on a 37KW boiler to heat up the house more slowly. Usually takes about 30 minutes now to get to target flow of 60C. Problem I have is when the heating...

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

Update - gas in radiator not hydrogen. After almost 4 weeks of bleeding no more gas in the radiator so I'm assuming gas was air that just took a while to bleed from system. But problem now is if all air removed from system not sure what is causing loud banging in another upstairs radiator...

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

First hydrogen test was negative. Will repeat tomorrow. To access the valve cap I assume I will need to remove boiler cover - will need to get professional help for that.

thanks ianmcd - will look at the cap on automatic air vent as next step if hydrogen test is negative

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

thanks - will test for hydrogen. Still trying to figure out if this issue is connected to banging pipework near other upstairs bath radiator (banging loud in morning when system goes on but some banging when system in pump overrun). No air in this radiator - lowered power of boiler to 15KW to...

Interesting article - looks like adding a deaerating device to the heating system could make sense

Vaillant 637 Ecotec plus - air bubbles in system

Thank you sirocosm and Harry Bloomfield. I have noticed the amount of air released each time is less after 3 weeks so you both might be right. I'm trying to figure out of this issue is related to loud banging in the pipes near my other upstairs bathroom radiator, particularly in the mornings...

Not tested gas for hydrogen. Will try this. Expansion vessel for the hot water is ok but didn't think this was linked to central heating.

Thank you again for you replies. I never had this issue with my previous two boilers and I have lived in this house with the same pipework for almost 25 years. There is a possibility the boiler is the issue. I have just got my guarantee through after two years - plumber forgot to register the...
