Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

So this guy seems to know what he is doing which is a breath of fresh air. He has checked the inlet and that is all fine and the plastic bit had already been taken out anyway. He has removed part 929670 and that looks to be fine as well. He is now just phoning Potterton about the wax...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks Normally I would leave them alone, I did the last, but I don't trust them. I certainly won't let him shut the door like the last one did, but will sit in the kitchen which is the next room to where the boiler is so I can keep an ear out on what he is doing.

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks Gasguru can this then just be put back in without the limiter in place or should it be replaced? I am going to try and be at home tomorrow when the engineer comes so I can deal with him rather than leaving it to my wife, I may even sit with him to make sure he is doing stuff.

    Removing damp plaster and replacing

So before we start I need to explain that we have tried to find the cause of the damp which we believe to be caused by next door, however even with Surveyors, insurance companies etc involved they completely deny it as it hasn't been too bad we have just ignored it, but now we want to decorate...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

I have left Mike a message so hopefully he will come back to me. If not I will try again tomorrow because... nPower have finally agreed to come back. When I told them about the cover not being put on properly and screws being left out of the boiler they called me back to say another engineer...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks Tony, really appreciate your help. I am in North Reading - Actually in Emmer Green which is just above Caversham. No parking issue as we have a drive and on street is available outside anyway. I have seen new Heat Exchangers on ebay for about £150 if it did need replacing. I will...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

I don't want to replace the boiler at all. I am more than happy to spend money on it given that I wont be living in the house in a year but don't want to throw good money after bad. I have stated before in the thread that I am in Reading, but we also have a water softner - again old so may be...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

So the latest news is that they are not sending another engineer as they said they would. The Heat Exchanger is the issues and thats it, they believe that diagnosis is acceptable and as it is uneconomical to repair then it is replacement - doesn't matter what I say. I will probably get them to...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks Tony The flow rate is 4 litres a minute once the water is hot. I would say its about half what is was? We have 2 children, filling the bath is a pain and we can't run 2 taps at a time anymore. Where are you in London don't fancy a trip to reading do you!

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks all for the help and advice. I have asked the company to send another engineer, someone who knows what they are doing they are doing this on Tuesday. The main thing that annoyed me about the other bloke was he just kept saying its old, that's not an excuse to throw it away for me! I...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks Gas guru...to be honest I do not know. He changed the temperature sensor and then from what I can tell spent most of the time on the phone, then announced that it was the heat exchanger. I am going to ask them to send out another engineer to have a look at the things you have...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

So after nearly 2 hours, of which he spent an hour and 45 mins on the phone he has decided that the Heat exchanger has gone. He is now saying that makes it beyond economical repair and that they part is obsolete anyway. Ignoring the beyond economical repair bit, can anyone confirm that...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks. He has spent more time on the phone than looking at the boiler, hasn't a clue. Problem is I think the pressure is so low that even at its lowest heat setting the water is coming out scolding. Cold water presure is fine and central heating is fine as well. When he originally arrived...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Can someone help, we have the above boiler. The hotwater pressure has dropped and the temp of the water is scolding. Any ideas, we have a maintenance and repair contract and they have changed the theromstats for the Hot Water and Central Heating but it hasn't worked. I think I could have...

    Wallpapering upto an opening

The last lot only looked a mess because of the way I did it, nothing to do with people rubbing against it. It's very difficult to do that! It's a bit extreme isn't it, I ask advice on wallpapering and you suggest spending hundreds on installing double doors. The arch isn't dated as I said it...

    Wallpapering upto an opening

Thanks, so the trick is to leave to dry, I did similar last time but did it wet. Whilst I didn't rip the paper it wasn't neat. Final question: Do you trim from the front or the back of the paper? Thanks

    Wallpapering upto an opening

Hi, I wondered if someone can help with the best way to achieve a good result. I am currently wallpapering the dining room. This has an opening into the hallway but there is no door. Think archway but square and not arch shaped. I want to paper up to arch but not into it. Whats the best...

My 3.5m x 6.5 metre garage built in brick (decorative) and block and fully insulated with 1 window, 2 personal doors (sectioned off garage at the back) and a sectional garage door. Slate roof made with truses. Built entirely by a builder cost £21k. So if you can do yours for that then you are...
