Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Gents - just a quick resurection of this as I am after a bit more advice. British Gas are blaming the Full Sequance Control board again and have therefore stated they wont fix it (Obsolete Part). However this has just been replaced. If it genuinely could be this part then I'll buy another one...

    Boiler pressure release valve pipework

Thanks gas service thats great news. Dan - in terms of moving the boiler its a bit more than unpalatable and therefore really becomes not an option. The only place it could go to get to an external wall would mean we need a new watermain laying from the street to the house (we have a...

    Boiler pressure release valve pipework

Hi all, Is someone able to advise or quote the exact wording from the regs about the pressure release pipe work from a combi boiler for me please. We have have had 2 quotes that have not even mentioned it and then a third today who doesn't think he will be able to fit the boiler as he is...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

OK So I am back and after more advice on this one, whilst we are likely to replace the boiler I need something that works whilst we wait as it could be a few weeks! Currently getting quotes as the BG quote of £3600 for a straight swap was obviously excessive!! The situation we are in now is...

External welcome lights - PIR plus override?

I did this recently. We had 2 PIR lights on the side of our house. We had a switch on the inside but all this did was either enable them to be on or off and still controlled by the PIR. We wanted to be able to override the PIR like you do. The only way I found to do this easily was to get...

    outdoors drain

Does the patio tilt towards the house or the grass - is there a drainage slope. If it tilts towards the grass then the easiest way will be to dig a trench and lay a linear drain into a soakaway in the grass somewhere. If it tilts towards the house then remove one of the lines of paving...

    135 Degree 40mm Branch

Thanks, Having looked at Screwfix, Tool Station, Plumbase, Grahams plumbing, and Wickes without joy I hadn't bothered with B&Q as I thought there was no chance, however I am pleased to say they do have them. Thanks you.

    135 Degree 40mm Branch

Hi all, Does anyone know where I could buy one of these off the shelf, plenty of online places but with £5 delivery for an 89p part makes it a bit expensive. I would prefer push fit but solvent weld would also be fine. I have tried all the usual place but don't seem to be having any...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Hi agile, I agree that it is repairable and at the end of the day I will get them to repair it as we need something working as we have a 4 and 1 year old, no hot water is an issue. I will ask them to fix it but as you say it is getting rather long in the tooth, I think it's about 18 years...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Well it lasted a whole 24 hours. Now the boiler constantly goes into lockout. British Gas coming back on Wednesday anyway but with 2 young children in the house I think it may be time for a new boiler, I can't be doing with the lack of reliability!

So I am collecting the board today only £20 so not too bad. If neither of these things work then up to them to try and find out what does.

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

He did say it's more likely to be the PCB but it could also be the air flow switch, as the PCB was obsolete he was willing to try the other to see if it fixed it. I am relatively confident he had a good understanding, he said there was nothing coming from the board!

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

I think there are 3 PCBs in this boiler 2 are still available but the one that has failed on mine is the sequence control PCB? GC no. 289-555. To be fair to the guy he showed me the part on his computer with the obsolete sign next to it. He did say I may be able to get one from somewhere, and...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Hi all I am resurecting this thread at the boiler has failed again... This time it wont ignite it was intermittent to start with and now it has failed completely... Now I learnt my lesson with NPower and have moved back to British Gas...I know I know but I couldn't take the risk of it...

    Another mist coat

Hi, Currently decorating my bathroom and the old paint is pealing away, it is so bad that it is coming off in sheets like wall paper does and is returning to the bare plaster. What is the best way to continue before repainting. Do I need to do another mist coat, or can I just paint as...
