    Lleylandi Roots

If you got a Stump grinder in they would grind away the tops and that would cut off all the latteral routs. We paid £75 - minimum charge - recently to have 4 Leylandi stumps ground down from a 6 foot hedge. This allowed me to install a small area of paving. Any latteral roots that got in the...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Well he has just finished. He has done lots of checks and it does now seem to be working as it should. The water is a bit hot. He had a flow meter and a temperature sensor. The Hot Water flow is about 8l a minute. The cold is about 14l a minute. The cold water temp is about 15 degrees. The...

Our never ending bathroom project [pics]

Thanks I had a look at that online and its not quite right for us, your pictures make it seem like it has a slightly green tint. Thanks though.

So this sounds slight incomprehensible but the boiler now seems to have returned to normal operation...this evening... the gas tech is due tomorrow. The only difference now is that all the air has worked its way out of the system. So maybe the part was at fault and the fact it wasn't bled...

Can I ask what colour the paint is on the walls and toung and grove if you can remember. I like it and we are trying to find colours for our bathroom at present. Thanks

So they are not coming until Friday. They wanted to come on Tuesday but I couldn't be here so the next available was Friday. What ever happens they need to remove the air from the system anyway, it is a bit better (the air) but still there. I am slightly frustrated with the progress but at...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

There has been an error on their computer system which means they didn't contact me. I have been busy at work this wee so haven't been able to chase them. I did yesterday and they still didn't phone me back. Have chased again this morning and they will phone me back today. They are sending...

No but all the pipe work radiates from the cupboard in which the boiler is in. One deadleg heads upstairs and isn't used whilst all the remaining pipework is downstairs!

OK, I'll get nPower to come and do this - they didn't phone yesterday anyway. I don't want to cut back the dead legs as in the future someone may want to use them, as they are in useful places. Would putting maintenance valves on them near to the boiler be an option.

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

That should be interesting as there are actually only 3 hot water taps and a shower in our house but there are also 2 dead ends. One to the washing machine which is no longer needed due to cold fill only and one which runs upstairs into a bedroom which in the past had a sink in it. We have no...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Thanks gas guru I don't think it is a scale issue either but there was a piece of scale in the end of the wax valve so it has to be considered. Is there an easy way to get rid of the trapped air, and is this now my only issue? It wasn't the tech guy who was here today it was a standard...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Interesting - the hot tap in our bathroom doesn't drip if it is turned off properly however our 3 year old does have a habit of not turning it off properly sometimes which means it can drip. What sort of length of job would this be - I know how much Mike charges so if it was this and cleaning...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Hi Tony, I may get the words mixed up but I mean the same thing. Sorry I am not an expert on boilers and water heating. I am grateful for the continued help and I have spoken to Mike and will get him out once nPower say no more but I hope you can understand I want to get them to spend as much...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Sorry, another update. I thought that nothing had changed but was wrong. Previously the flow was the same no mater what was happening. However now when we turn on the tap the pressure is very high, then it reduces down to the same as it was prior to parts replacement and then it stays like...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

OK so I take it back. It seems that this hasn't resolved the issue. It also seems that there is some scale in the boiler as well so maybe this is getting into the heat exchanger and has blocked it and my water softner is inefficient. At least I know now that they have checked everything else...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Well I have my fingers crossed as once he had the wax element flow control off (with some help from myself as he didn't have the right tools) there was a peice of something (admittedly looking like scale) in the end of the valve. New part being fitted, although they haven't provided washers...

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

I have just done a more accurate test and it's more like 3.2l a minute. Does this indicate a problem with the hot start device and what's the part number for this. Thanks

I had said previously that the hot water is coming out at 4 litres a minute is this what you meant. It is significantly less than the cold water flow!

Hot Water issue - Potterton Puma 80e

Yes - this is what has been ordered. Apparently they use PlumbCentre for parts. We are booked in for the part fitting on Monday morning. If it isn't this then it looks like it will be the heat exchanger and thats the point at which I have to call someone else to replace it as they can't as...

Slight edit so part 929670 is going to be order as well as a DHW flow switch these will be fitted when they come in. Hopefully this may fix it...let's see, probably Monday now.
