    Oil Forum Registration

I've posted this in the Combustion Chamber and am posting it here for Oilies who are not members of the CC. I know that some have had issues getting access to the Oil Forum due to the "security question". I understand why some found it a bit cryptic so it has now been changed and anyone...

Serious Problem with my boiler installer

I think the boiler is second hand and was originally given to the OP by a family member!!! Who commissioned it at that point??? Come on Steff I think you've been a little economical with the facts!!

    Oil Engineers Forum

Norcon started it! There's no big secret to be fair. It's just a forum where guys who specialise in oil can talk about oil related stuff. Not unlike the Combustion Chamber. Just keeps it neat and tidy and a chance to share info with other oil engineers. We talk about braided...

Old Trianco 36.6kW Oil Boiler - to upgrade or not to upgrade

Which elements of the new Worcester range do you think are better than a Vortex Pro? Unfortunately Worcester had a marketing disaster with the Greenstar Cam condensing range and I think they lost the confidence of installers.

Old Trianco 36.6kW Oil Boiler - to upgrade or not to upgrade

IMO a Grant Vortex is the best oil boiler out there...others may disagree but every Grant I look after has not missed a beat. You can get a 5 year warranty if you choose the right installer.

Who has wasted money calling a plumber out?

Anyone following the 4 steps would not have got past the first hurdle if they had called me. I can spot them a mile off! I'm ever so sorry but I am too busy at the moment. These people will find the tradesmen they rightly deserve.

Riello 40 - Boiler Motor Running No Lockout

Good luck. Print out the Riello fault finding sheet in the following link. It's actually one of the few FF charts that seems good in this industry!! http://www.rielloburners.co.uk/lumo/upload_documents/riello_chartfaultfindingfor535seldrdbseriesburners2.pdf

Riello 40 - Boiler Motor Running No Lockout

It's going into permanent ventilation mode. 4 reasons for this. 1 Faulty cell 2 Faulty solenoid 3 Faulty Control Box 4 faulty Motor I fix this fault in the above order (easiest and cheapest first. You'll be unlucky if it's the motor!)

    Danesmoor boiler problem

Just make sure your flue ways are clear. Also make sure there's no sludge sitting in firevalve fitting which should be fully open (reset button pushed in fully). Crack nut on flexi coming into oil pump to confirm good flow of oil. Also check for water in oil which sometimes causes the symptoms...

    Danesmoor boiler problem

Check your filters first of all. If you have a Gem outlet tank fitting there is a small nut downstream of the isolation knob which a lot of service engineers neglect to check. This becomes blocked over time. If it has never been checked (I have cone across quite a few) then it can be fun and...

riello rdb trying to start (tiger loop)

Make sure your fire valve hasn't tripped

riello rdb trying to start (tiger loop)

Might not be the tigerloop causing the problem. Is the burner going through a 12sec pre purge (motor/fan) on and then ignition/flame on/flame established (this is important). After another five seconds the burner then locks out?

Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 Intermittent lock out

I think you are going down the wrong path here. Are you sure that the delay is not related to an ignition problem. Recheck the position of your electrodes. Make sure the distances are per the MI. Also check that there is no shorting (electrodes too close to diffuser plate for example)...

    Grant Combi 90/70 overheating

If it's a Combi 90 Mark II then it should have a blending valve. Is your problem with hot water from the taps being too hot? Have you tried adjusting the temperature of the blending valve? Try turning it down. On Grant Vortex's the valve is factory set at 50c. I had one recently that...
