    1 Gang 20mm Spacer

I have only used PVC spacers where you need to fit an accessory that needs a deeper box than is currently chopped into the wall and for whatever reason you're unable to cut the wall out ie UFH thermostat, dimmer switch on a 16mm box etc so I assumed this was the same scenario

    IP rated amendment 3 CU

Surely an AMD3 enclosure in a larger IP enclosure is easier, cheaper and just the correct way to do it?

    1 Gang 20mm Spacer

Never seen a square edge spacer frame. Only round edge. MK do a 20mm but ofc it's round edge. Does it need to be exactly 20mm or could you butcher a 16mm/25mm standard PVC patress and just remove all of the back and the brass lugs?

Good quality branded Georgian brass light switch and wall sockets?

Because they aren't really popular anymore. Certainly not as popular as they were. I can count on one hand the number of brass accessories I've fitted in the past few years

If it's only a 5m run why not (dependant on cable routing) get a 401QEB and an 8.5kW shower. 9.5kW would also just be fine assuming calculating at 240vac. A 7.5kW shower will just about get you wet and warm but it will not be a pleasant experience.

    Proteus BS5486 cartridge

A new house doesn’t necessarily even mean new MCB’s! New builds are so price driven I don’t doubt there’s the odd MCB that was knocking around in the van in a lot of them to save the £2.50

    Proteus BS5486 cartridge

The problem with old breakers like that on eBay is you don’t know what kind of life they’ve had. It could be next to unused or it could have been totally abused and be really weak. There’s no way to know and there’s no way to test them.

    Proteus BS5486 cartridge

161QEB is the part number 16 for 16A and 1QEB for the range 32 for 32A and 1QEB for the range I'd advise against replacing those MCBs. They are getting to the end of their usable life. My last flat had those in, came home to no lighting one day, assumed the MCB had tripped. Nope, the MCB had...

    Wago connectors for cable joins

Is a socket much more obtrusive than a blank plate though? Really? An unswitched socket is even less obtrusive than a switched one. I HATE blank plates, particularly in kitchens. Personal preference of course but that’s just my opinion

    Wago connectors for cable joins

If they switched fused spurs are part of the ring final (or radial final) I wouldn't bother using wagos and blank plates - I'd just make them single sockets. If there needs to be a plate there, it may as well be of some use

    Strip light problems

I still don’t think LED retrofit tubes are quite there yet. I’m with Winston, I know of a place that was fitted out with Philips LED tubes and it was noticeably dimmer than with floro. The LED battens made to look like either non corrosive or just battens with a cover aren’t too bad

Wiring Sockets on an exposed stone wall

Yea my post was of course referring to steel pipework, not SS foolishly. Well, if you're a plumber and you've turned off the gas & water then I think it's fair game to be cutting into any pipework

Wiring Sockets on an exposed stone wall

The biggest give away is that many steel gas pipes are not bare. Galv conduit is obviously bare, but steel pipe used for gaswork is often (but obviously not always) painted a reddy brown or yellow plastic coated
