    please help me CORGI

With respect, is £400 reasonable because that is what you would charge someone? Is it reasonable because of the overheads and deeming part of that a reasonable wage for a qualified man? Or is it reasonable because "it's the going rate"? Your attack on the original poster mocking his socialist...

    Thermostatic rad valves

No problem. When you refill the system after cleaning the rads, add some fernox cleaner or suchlike to the system (eBay is a good place to get it) and run your heating with it in there for a couple of weeks to help loosen of any filth in the system. Then drain the system down again, refill...

    Honeywell CM907 odd behaviour

The optimisation feature of these honeywell programmable thermostats is not as good as some may think. I've turned optimisation off on my CM67 as it also came on far too early. When I got a CM927 for my dad a couple of weeks ago, the first thing I did was turn it off on his also. Do a...

    Thermostatic rad valves

I fitted some more TRV's in the summer and took off all rads and flushed them with a hose in the garden. The results are well worth the effort of ten or fifteen minutes extra work per rad. Our house is only eight yrs old but the muck that came out was shocking. Ensure you put some quality...

Rounded off screws in boiler won't budge!? - Help!

Pair of mole grips had them screws out in seconds. Had a poke about in the boiler with a screwdriver, loosesned a few gaskets and fittings. Sloppily put it all back together without replacing any "seals". All this was done after a few can's of stella to steady the hands. I did a quick test to...

Rounded off screws in boiler won't budge!? - Help!

What are you on about? What seals? Have you ever taken the cover off a Glow Worm Micron boiler? There are no seals. Just three screws and the entire cover lifts off. How on earth I'm going to blow my house up by doing this. That's like saying my car's going to blow up when I take the petrol cap...

Rounded off screws in boiler won't budge!? - Help!

There screws are too recessed in to get a hacksaw blade in there, and most likely a small grinding wheel either. If the boiler didn't need a service, why has someone tried to get the screws off to take the combustion cover off in the first place? ... and abandoned it when they couldn't get...

Rounded off screws in boiler won't budge!? - Help!

Thanks for your sensible reply. I have all of the manuals for my boiler, so I will read it thoroughly to see what it says about taking the combustion cover off before I go any further. I could always just replace the screws without taking the cover off. Job done. Ok, so £65+vat isn't...

Rounded off screws in boiler won't budge!? - Help!

They're not special screws. Some chump rounded them off before we moved in. I suspect a "professional" from Britsh Gas was most likely. They obviously just walked away from it, so why on earth would I get them back again? We don't have a BG contract nor would I touch one with a barge pole...

Rounded off screws in boiler won't budge!? - Help!

Hi, I've inherited a Glow worm Micron 50FF boiler and the two hardened, self tapping screws which hold the combustion chamber cover on are completely ceased, refuse to move and are rounded off nicely. http://img143.imageshack.us/my.php?image=boiler1wz9.png...
