    Try closing all the radiator valves off,if you have thermostatic radiator valves just turn them off. Then open one of the radiators up on the top floor and turn heating on and see if the radiator heats up. Repeat process on all upstairs radiators. If they all individually heat up then open them...

    Ah yes, now I've read the post properly rather than the quick glance I see the problem. So no it won't work inside the pipe. It will work on an internal plastic stack where space is tight though! :oops:

    is it cast iron or plastic? if its plastic then use a bicycle brake cable and use it like a cheese wire. you will be amazed at how easy it is! you can buy one from a plumbers merchant with handles on it but just wear gloves to hold the cable.

    You say you have a combi boiler and gas?! Are you sure it's a combi and not a system boiler, ie the heats the radiators and the hot water cylinder? More pics would be good.

    ps in the pic you have a reducing set which is the small copper olive and small brass reducer, you will not need these if using 15mm pipe.

    you need to wrap the male thread about 15 times with ptfe tape, this bit then threads into radiator. all other connections on valve are a nut and olive which need to be fitted to pipe and tail(other end of thread) and tightened with a spanner. for extra tightness wrap olive in ptfe (only twice)...
