    If the upstairs rads are V.Hot and the downstairs are not then the pump is at fault. If all are hot then the themostat is at fault not closing the boiler down.

    Thats my sinature!!!! But still it must cheaper getting a gas engineer to check the boiler than fit a new worscester oil boiler, tank ect, if not I'l have 10 oil systems at £60.00 each!

    If the pressure rises then the filling loop (the silver braid) is by passing you need it replacing..you can disconnect it from the end that comes FROM the boiler that will stop the pressure build up.......but you will have a leak from the loose end.

    Just noticed this thread I agree with Oilmans second post go onto www.screwfix.com and buy some heating system flushing fluid cat no 16307 CENTRAL HEATING SLUDGE REMOVER 1 LTR leave a couple of weeks and see if it works...it may be the best £3.00 you've spent this year?

    You need to get the air out. The pressure will stay at 2 bar no damage should be done to the system if left. If only two rads are allowing you to bleed them then the others must be turned off at the valves (is there no water at all coming out the bleed nipples)??? If not turn them on.

    I am in the North east just completed a bedroom bathroom extension (over the kitchen) 6m x 4m. Materials £3500 bricklayers £1200. Roofers £200 (flat roof). Plasterer £360 Electrician £120. Planning and other fees building regs etc...£650.00 two d/g windows £300......Plumbing would have been £450...

    Ok have you a radiator key? This could be a long (and wet job) if you have Bleed a radiator until the pressure drops..put a towel under the rad and try to catch the water in a dish. The origional "problem" is probably your unfamilarality of the controls.

    The button on the gas valve (grey one) are you sure it is turned to flame when the pilot light has been ignited. There are two marks on the button one like a spark the other the flame. The sequence is...Turn grey to spark press ignite with red button, turn grey to flame.
