Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

Goodness knows what it is. Its not huge and we've only ever been able to get around 1/4 of a bath from it. Even a morning shower is a bit of a struggle. Its going to be ripped out next month and the old boiler replaced with a new combi boiler.

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

Thanks for that Tony I might carry on with what I'm doing with the weaker cleaner then give it a last minute blast with X800 to finish off the crud busting. Dom

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

Pass - there are no markings to be able to tell. I've got three more litres to bung in the system for the next flush. Each litre says its good for ten radiators. I'd estimate the thermal store to be aroung 120-150 litres judging by the size of it.

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

Having a new boiler put in at the end of next month so got a bit of time to get things flushed out. Just need to nurse this boiler / thermal store along till then.

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

My heating has been on for at least an hour a day since the cleaner was put in. Sad in this weather but I know its more effective on a hot system. I've had it on all day today but only in certain rooms - I've been circulating it and moving to a cooler room to work then shutting off the rads...

    Central Heating Running Costs

On the other hand ....... We have a 4 bedroom house. My kids only come round on alternate weekends If I turned off their radiators in their rooms when they weren't over (i.e. 12 out of 14 days) and kept their doors shut then I would save in gas from not heating up their rooms. I would...

    Central Heating Running Costs

The more radiators you have, the more heat you're outputting from them and the more energy/gas the boiler takes to heat them. On the other hand, if you had a 25 square meter room which was well insulated and heated it up to 20 degrees with a single radiator, it would take the same (roughly)...

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

I decided to give my heating system a flush. Drained it, whacked in a couple of litres of heating cleaner. refilled with fresh water and left it for a week. Curiousity got the better of me and I took off a sample from a drain point to see how it was looking. I was faced with a nice bottle...

    please help me CORGI

£400 is 2-3 weeks of money for me at the moment (I work part time for myself) but its what I'd consider reasonable for a qualified person to spend maybe a day and a half with their equipment (not cheap) and their experience etc commisioning and testing a boiler they haven't supplied onto...

    Strange Pott Performa problem

I'm not expert on your boiler but if it has a keep warm function for the hot water, it may have a faulty thermistor which is causing the stored water to overheat. Are you able to turn off the keep warm function and see if it fixes the problem ?

    Humming Noise

I have a server running 24/7 in my attic. When you are up there you can hardly hear it but when you are in the bedrooms, you can hear a quiet but steady throbbing humming noise coming through the ceilings. It used to annoy me but now I find its reassuring waking up and hearing it - it means...

    Strange Pott Performa problem

You're very pushy and a bit rude for someone who is asking for help of a free forum. Maybe that is why there are so few replies. Your problem has all the symptoms of a faulty DHW flow switch (i.e. the switch that activates when there is a demand for hot water). Most common causes are a...

    Doughnut Washer problem

What make toilet is it ? I've had a nightmare with a Shires recently and they provided me with a donut I've not come across before (large and flat on both sides)

Shires close coupled toilet - strange doughnut ?

Its been applied in places where it can't squeeze out ;) Had a good think about where I was putting it so it should last until the toilet needs dismantling again.

Shires close coupled toilet - strange doughnut ?

Just as a follow up, I couldn't find anywhere with a donut for the Shires cistern so I bit the bullet and decided to phone Shires themselves. Got bounced back to reception a couple of times then got through to someone who was really helpful but told me a standard donut should fit. After...

    Glow Worm Compact 100e

Mine was fine too - no leaks etc but was still knackered. When you have the front pin bit off, its worth soaking it in some kind of descaler as mine had got a bit sticky and wasn't letting the pin return sometimes.

    Glow Worm Compact 100e

Bottom right hand side of the boiler connected to the cold inlet pipe is a black square plastic box with a couple of wires coming out of it. This is clipped to the diaphram bit - I think there are 4 screws holding the front plate on. When you remove the black box all will become obvious -...
