Making a garage more useful - not converting

Have you thought about P5 chipboard flooring sheets. The 18mm ones would be sturdy and moisture resistant too.

    Decking project - concrete problem

You could make a nice step that curves around the door in a half moon shape running just under the doors but over the sill. Do sort of the same thing to cover the slope and put planters on it.

Final Q's before i rip up my floor

Hi Mark. Well been busy in the garden. J & K beat me to answering with some sound advice as for the stud wall i'd leave it in. Make sure the screws you use are full thread so they grip the p5. As you lay the P5 boards down us a perm black marker and draw on them the layout of any pipework...

    En-suite in new loft conversion

I feel awful if i get anyone in to do something. I tend to stalk them for the whole time that they are here. It's a shame that you pay a pro to do something and they shatter your confidence in everyone.

Final Q's before i rip up my floor

Mark the P5 chipboard will depend on your joist spacings. Check if you need 18mm or 22mm. You can cut the bottom of the door frame with a multi tool to slide the boards under. The issue you have is where the stud wall for the bathroom/Bedroom 2 is fixed on the existing floor. It may not be...

It can be smoothed over as it starts to set. Use a piece of timber the width of the opening and pat down when postcrete starts to go off.

    Anyone built their own shed?

Hi There It is quite straight forward if you plan it right and have the right tools. Built a 8 x 4.5 shed myself. Cost me 600 quid but it solid as a rock. The good thing about building yourself is that it is designed and tailored to your exact needs. First sit down and decide what you...

Leave the skirting board on the walls and see if the other half likes any of the Ogee pine architarves. Fix that above the skirting and pin 3mm ply over the two to create a stepped edge at the start of the ogee profile.

Hi there Use 13mm clout nails. In the spot where you going to nail thru the felt put a blob of this stuff on then nail down but don't hammer in so it mashes the felt. The excess that oozes out smear over the nail head. PUT CLINGFILM ON THE HAMMER HEAD TO SAVE CLEANING IT...

Making floor for basement conversion (ed.)

Screeding yourself is a good idea and you can check with Kingspan if the tapered roofing insulation is ok for the sub floor. With a couple of these and the normal thickness ones you could save on some of the deep levelling issues. I have been using one of these to do my mortar and concrete...

    Fencing worries

With the hot weather the posts will dry very quick if been stored in a sheltered place in the depot. Keep them in a shaded area for a couple of days if they arrive wet/damp. The post issue with the pipe not worth the risk hammering in. I'd go for the option you said about wedging in. You...
