London one of safest cities in the world

Interesting you felt safe. I used to live in West London, left approx 20 years ago, but still know the city well. We go to visit friends or just do London stuff fairly regularly, and went down for the day between Christmas and new year. We were in the St Pancras, Covent Garden, South Ken, and...

Taps that claim to be suitable for both high and low pressure systems

Do you really want tank stored cold water as your kitchen supply?

    Can I improve on this......

Where you have the skirting returning around the corner and under the unit, i'd have mitred a full height section of skirting and then notched it under the cabinet so that the chamfered section of the skirting returned around the corner. Edit: just seen in your original post that you tried that...

Need Expert Advice for UFH System - Consolidating 2 Boilers

Personally, I’d stick with what you’ve got. I don’t think you make any noticeable savings, in fact you’ll probably find it costs you more to run as a big boiler is much less efficient than a small one when the big one is running with low loads.

Pipe bending vs solder ring elbows

You can buy a proper pipe bender for £40-50. A bent bend is always going to be less likely to leak than any type of connection. Pipe bending springs are complete rubbish in my opinion, and you can only use them if the bend is near a pipe end.

Loft humidity after insulation and vents added

93% at 9.9 degrees in the loft and 84% outside at 7 degrees indicates to me a lack of ventilation, hence the higher temperature in the loft. With decent ventilation and good insulation the internal and external air temp should be the same. The higher internal humidity may indicate a water...

Loft humidity after insulation and vents added

I suspect you had more heat leakage that you realise, enough to keep the temperature in the loft slightly elevated.

Jews killed in Bondi beach shooting.

To be fair, that shouldn't have been directed at you personally, so i will edit my post and happily apologise. I was referring to the left in general who are happy to dance on the head of a pin in finding ways to attack Jews, physically, verbally and emotionally, whilst claiming they are...

Jews killed in Bondi beach shooting.

Yet an attack has been made on a religious group who's only connection to Israel is their common religion. The left accuse people of hate speak and racism when islamist extremists or terrorists are conflated with general muslims, but don't seem willing to apply the same standard when Jews are...

Jews killed in Bondi beach shooting.

This thread is about the latest atrocity against the Jews. Please, can people show some compassion for people affected by this tragedy and not use if for unrelated local (to the UK) political point scoring. The footage of the brave man (who has turned out be muslim) tackling one of the gunman...

Jews killed in Bondi beach shooting.

It happened a few months ago. How soon we forget about the ongoing persecution of the Jews.

Jews killed in Bondi beach shooting.

My heart goes out to those affected by this terrible attack. Much as some people may dislike Isreal, Jews aren’t Israel. Disgusting lack of compassion in this thread so far.

    Asbestos in ceiling

I'd be happy with that. Any asbestos would be fairly uniformly mixed throughout the plaster. You'll be fine, forget about it and move on with your life. Even if there was asbestos in the plaster, there's nothing you can do about it now anyway.

    Scrapping Human Rights

This government is a ****show on immigration, but so was the last, and I remember being equally unhappy with the hotels and small boats situation under the tories.

    Scrapping Human Rights

The Irish are much closer culturally to us than many of the other immigrants we have had recently, as are the most of the Eastern Europeans. The 8 million of Irish descent have arrived over the last few hundred years or more, not at anything like the rate we’ve seen over the last decade...

    Scrapping Human Rights

I would like to agree with you about the ECHR. It would be better to change it from within, but i just don't see that happening any time soon. l do agree that we need to stop mass movement, but again i don't see that happening any time soon. Unfortunately, human nature seems to lead to...

    Scrapping Human Rights

I understand people's concerns over leaving the ECHR, but plenty of other countries around the world aren't in the ECHR and we don't view them as pariah or at risk of their governments. Australia and Japan as examples. America has a very different political culture to ours and i don't think you...

    Scrapping Human Rights

O Other countries, even those in the EU, are taking a firmer line than us. The asylum seeker that the BBC had on question time the lasta week for example. He'd already applied for asylum in numerous countries and been denied it. Yet we're willing to accept him. Why? But its not just boat...

    Scrapping Human Rights

I'm sure it does need a world wide solution, but i don't want to wait for the rest of the world work out how to solve the problem. Our country and our population need to be put first by our politicians. Working out how to fix the world wide problem can run in tandem or follow on later.

    Scrapping Human Rights

I think people are also coming to the conclusion that the mass influx of immigrant, legal or otherwise, s is changing the fundamental make up of the country in a direction that they don't want it to go. Reform and the Conservatives have realised this and are using it to their benefit, and i...
