    The cement an other shortages

I think it's two or three fold apparently, speaking to one of my local suppliers a massive increase in build work post covid, panic buying stocks aka the toilet paper saga, and current raw material issues due to an overall global logistic slowdown playing catchup since covid restrictions are...

    Foundations for a log cabin

I am thinking about building a log cabin. Construction will be 100x50 timber frame, skinned with 9mm ply and cross battened outer skin. As it will be located a good 400metres away from any roads in woodland i was thinking of alternatives to a concrete base as this will be costly because A) the...

Dangee thankyou so much for inspiring me to persist. I got it off in the end as you say with gentle persuasion and alot of determination. Took some time though! My next challenge is tightening the leaking compression joint. Anyone know of a specialist ring spanner. I think I'll need to chip the...

We have a bonded stone sill here and I need to remove it to get to get to a leak. I've tried hammering it with a plastic block it's really solid. Wiring in tub

4mm is enough it's a 32a supply calc by distance and supply already speccd by sparky. That cable gland is big enough for 450v 3phase. Since discovered it tightens to 12mm so I'm just tight enough.

    Drinking water and water softener

Two fold. We have a thermal store and very hard water. Ive just had to descale the DHWC as it was so scaled up hot water was almost at a dribble. (i believe its a combination of our tank sitting at +85c and hard water) And limescale in toilet bowls shower screens etc, really annoying.

I know this has been debated a few times. Im running a hot and cold water feed to my new kitchen. Softener will be in other room. Which at the moment when installed will be softening all feeds (apart from external to garden hose). Do i or should i run a 3rd pipe untreated to my new kitchen...

    Hot water flow very low

OK exciting update!! So to recap our hot water was really poor, not very hot and no flow or pressure. Of course being a skin flint and tight on money decided after descaling the mixer valve and some help from people here deduced it MUST be the DHWC. I bought a 2nd hand new Grundfos pump...

    Hot water flow very low

Hi Gasbanni thanks for your thoughts, I read this earlier on another post below the science or theory is interesting, as i often wondered why they were prone to limescale, just to add we do live in a very hard water area too. Anyway today is the day i shall try to resolve this pesky issue. Off...
