Still raining here in Norwich, thats about 24 hours non stop and heavy at times. The garden is looking very water logged, but the sky is starting to get 'brighter' patches of cloud appearing.

Laying a foundation with a dry mix

I would lay it wet, I cant see how a little water now and then would work. Surely the surface would form a crust and stop any further water penetrating after a short time :?

Kärcher pressure cleaner -- better off with 2/3/4 series?

If you look on the Karcher website, it tells you the difference between the series and the models. Basically the lower the series number the 'cheaper' the product. e.g series 2 are diy - once in a blue moon, no good for regular use as it will wear out quickly.

Please advise me on a good quality toolset.

I would have to agree with ch427, I have had my halfords pro socket set for about 10 years now, can't fault it . Make sure you get the pro set though.

    Drill guide.

I used to use this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wolfcraft-4522-Mobil-Drill-Stand/dp/B0001P19PO until i got more experienced. The two bars can be set to protrude through the base, therefore centering the drill on things such as doors for lock mortices etc

    Green water

Make sure you also keep the quartz sleeve clean, algae can sometimes grow on this and reduce the effectiveness. Have you made any other changes that may effect the balance of the pond e.g more fish, extra feeding etc? How about a pic so that we can see your planting etc.

    The Two Faced Spirit Level

I'm not sure if its the photo, but the vial seems to be bent and not level. Its possible that this is the problem and its only been certified level on one face. How much did you pay, it doesn't look to be particularly expensive?

    Dodgy bathroom skirting!

The "skirting" has been used to hide a poor tiling job and unless you replace it I cant see a way of filling the gaps you describe. The only option i can think of is to replace the flooring with some professionally fitted linoleum or equivalent with upstands around the edge.

Do wooden fence post's need to be pointed

Are you referring to the end that goes into the ground or the end that will be exposed to the elements? If its the latter, personally I prefer to cap them or bevel the end so that they shed water and last a little longer.

Is it illegal to drive with the brake pad warning light lit?

I'm not not sure its illegal, although it may be an mot failure if you have one anytime soon. I would say its probably more a question of responsibility rather than legality. If you were to have an accident an the insurance company demmed the brakes to be defective because of the wear they...

    Fly Tipping

In the area where I live fly tipping is definitely on the increase. Only last weekend whilst walking the dog, I came across a shopping trolley from the nearby supermarket laden with turfs and domestic waste, dumped in the middle of the park. Green waste fly tipping seems to form the main...

    Venturi showers

I have a Croydex also and the water delivery is good, trouble is after a few months they drip like crazy and because they are discontinued I can't get the parts. I would go for a more expensive brand and hope they don't leak.

    Replacing my flat roof

I replaced a flat roof of approx the same size last year using cold lay. I also replaced the boards. Materials were around £300 and it took 3-4 days, so i woul say it sounds about right, especially if you are in the London area.
