    cannot remove top of cistern

I am trying to remove the top of the cistern so I can make an adjustment to the inlet valve as it is dripping constantly only the top does not seem to come off. I have tried unscrewing the buttons but no luck - any ideas how to disconnect this?

eg: Motors rubber wheel More industrial rubber wheel some type of waste pipe for the feeder, which could maybe be cutout to allow the wheels to spin in it, this would keep the ball running in a straight line on exit and also provide the feeder mechanism. I'm sure I can get cheaper. How...

Aha, it's just the bit on the side of the actual starter motor? Yeah, there must be a yard somewhere, ideally finding 2 identical motors would be good for 2 independent wheels.

    "read the question" :) - oops, missed it. multiply that by 3.14 circumference is not 100mm but 314mm ish or 0.314m So, 70mph = 112kmh 112kmh = 112000metres/h = 1866.66metres/min Diameter = 0.1m Circumference = 0.314m RPM = 1866/0.314 = 5942PM I thought 18k was sounding v high

    Assuming 1:1 gearing. 70mph = 112kmh 112kmh = 112000metres/h = 1866.66metres/min Circumference = 0.1m RPM = 18,666RPM I thought that's what you wanted me to answer! :)

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

Ok, so thoughts on 2 transit starter motors? eg Introducing a ball will slow the motor down a bit, I was just going on what I had read here: Then I can have a play..."safely"...with them and see what's possible. [circumference (in ft)] X RPM X [60 min per Hr] / [5280 ft per mile]...

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

Yeah, but what I meant was as the ball passes through, it is squeezed a little bit between the rubber. This extra force will actually slow the wheels down such that wheel travelling at 70mph will only throw the ball out at maybe 30 or something like that. I'm not really sure there's anyway to...

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

I'm not trying to get someone else to design it but I know very little about motors. It doesn't mean I can't learn but at the very least I need to know a guide on what RPM to have and because it'd going to be inefficient at first design, it's going to need to spin a lot faster than the...

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

3.14...why ? Yes, in theiry I could get the revs from that but wheels spinning at 80mph will not fire out a ball at 80mph due to squeezing the ball, resistance, inefficiencies, etc.

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

True :) Might be "fun" anyway. Any advice on the motors? What sort of RPM would I need to get a ball going at up to 70mph? I think this is going to be the trickiest part:

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

I didn't intend to follow the instructions exactly but try and make a few trial and errors changes. If you look at some of the actual bowling machines they pitch from about 8ft up. Spin is done by having one wheel rotating fast than the other and tilting the machine. Swing is done by having it...

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

The machines don;t use real cricket balls, they use dimpled balls, more like hockey balls so the seam shouldn't make too much of a difference. I get what you are saying though but the trajectory of the ball surely just needs to be aimed up or down to get some bounce? The real bowling machines...

    starter motors

Just posting here for advice on motors for a cricket bowling machine. On one of the other threads someone suggested getting 2 starter motors on the cheap but I'm wondering how they could be modified to stop the pinion gear pulling away? They would need to be constantly turning the wheel.

Hmm How would I stop it from pulling the pinion gear away?

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

Know anywhere to get the motors from? Ball speeds need to be between 40mph up to about 70. 2 motors so I can vary the speed getting spin or swerve :) I'm thinking 2 mounted upright either directly spinning an axle or some kind of geared mechanism probably mounted on plywood would be fine...

cricket bowling machine / baseball ?

It doesn't have to run off batteries but probably easier, I guess it could be plugged in somewhere, definitely want it to be electrical though. ANy ideas on what sort of RPM I need? Obviously, when the ball is squeezed between 2 turning rubber wheels, it's going to slow down a bit.

So, it looks like blue & orange need to be on the bottom left although a bit difficult to tell from that picture. What are all the other wires hanging out or do I just ignore those?!
