    Gloss or satin

If it's basically white going on white then a light sanding will be fine. If you have bare wood I'd use the acrylic primer/undercoat (personally use Leyland trade). This primes and undercoats in one go. Don't worry if the first coat seems to pull a bit, just get it on quick. The 2nd coat will...

    Gloss or satin

The oil based can turn off white just like the gloss!

    Wall above stairs bulges

I think it's a crack fix someone has done before papering and left it proud. If you ever change the paper you could sand it down then. In the meantime just keep an eye on it to see if it changes.

    Wall above stairs bulges

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Is it hard to the touch or crumbly?

    Wall above stairs bulges

I think it could be a crack in the wall that someone has once "fixed" but not sanded it level. Is it a cupboard behind it that may have had a boiler or a hot water tank in it? Are you planning on redecorating or just concerned? If redecorating I think it would be quite easy to rectify. Is it...

    Gloss or satin

Water based satin will stay white whereas oil based gloss will go a bit yellow after time. But then the gloss will take more knocks. If you buy the diamond satin from dulux trade this gives a much tougher finish and can be applied to the current gloss if it's sanded down a bit first. You can...

    Crown or Dulux

Of course you can use them . I'd personally use a primer/undercoat and then a top coat of trade gloss.

Has it ever had a dado rail?

    New Bedroom Door Painted

Basically, he needed to sand between coats. The primer can cause bare wood to roughen up a bit. Although that's a hell of a grain pattern on the door edge!

    New Bedroom Door Painted

Looking at the picture I think they are tiny holes so it may be worth filling first before sanding.

Damaged plasterboard under layers of wallpaper : Next steps?

I have done a few houses next door to each other and they were all like this. Absolutely no plaster on the boards. Whether it was the building company to cut costs or a contract company pulling a fast one or even how it was supposed to be done I don't know but trying to get any wallpaper off...

    Is it acceptable quality?

Just look at pic 4! You can't be happy with that painting! I said days as in getting the walls perfectly flat and smooth. Filling some small holes is slightly different! Sounds very much like both parties have done rough jobs!

Paint skirting boards before carpet fitting?

Remove old carpet and do it now. Then when fitters have been you can touch up any marks. Watch your little toes on that gripper though!

    Is it acceptable quality?

Fair play I mean, just look at that 4th picture. If that is the finished job wtf! Look at the green cutting in. I wonder if they had their eyes shut!

    Is it acceptable quality?

Obviously I'm not talking about general holes and repair. I mean the painting itself in some of those picture is terrible. Is that a finished job around the window frame? There's holes and then there's the above! The whole walls are uneven. To fill and sand it all to look flat would put days...

    Is it acceptable quality?

If you've asked the decorator to fill holes before painting and they haven't then it would be the decorator who needs to put this right. However, that newly plastered ceiling looks terrible and no decorator would be able to just fill and sand that to look flat. It looks like it needs a whole...

Where to stop the wall paper

I agree with maybe putting a thin rail. If that's not an option you'd have to draw a line before the curve starts right across the wall and get a spirit level (or long metal ruler) and a sharp Stanley knife and cut along leaving a nice straight edge. Definitely before the curve though.

    Is it acceptable quality?

Obviously it depends on if you asked the painter to fill all the holes visible before they quoted. Plus is that first photo the newly plastered ceiling? That is awful. It would be the plasterers job to leave you with a nice flat ceiling. That looks very uneven. When did the decorator give you...
