    Wall socket stopped working.

Thanks both of you. I've checked the wiring in the socket and fused outlet and both look fine. Will try and find a neighbour with a test meter...or an electrician I guess. Can't believe it just stopped working for no apparent reason. Grrr. Was about to buy a new washing machine! Lucky I didn't!

    Wall socket stopped working.

Hi, My washing machine stopped working mid-spin yesterday. II changed the fuse and it still didn't work. I plugged a lamp into its socket under the sink and that doesn't work either. I've checked the machine works when plugged into another socket and it does...so, it's not the machine or...

    Leaking shower

Thanks for the advice. Well I thought I'd found the leak. I directed the shower head against the glass side panel where the glass joins the vertical (which is in turn fixed to the wall) and it caused the water to leak by the skirting board. That suggested that the water is getting into the...

    Inhibitor concentration

According to the plumber that signed the boiler off, it is inhibitor in the system, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was cheap stuff from Wickes ;) I guess we'll have to follow your advice Beerlover and get the system drained down and refilled. Will it be ok to wait until the spring or...

    Leaking shower

I'm having trouble with my shower and am lost as to what I should do next. I have a quadrant shower enclosure in the corner of the room, with a frameless door and two side panels connected to the wall. Problem 1: I've had trouble with the door leaking for 3 years now. Where the door...

    Inhibitor concentration

Hello. I have an Alpha CD50 boiler running off LPG. It's just over 3 years old and at the beginning of the year it leaked. It emerged that 2 of the o- rings had corroded as well as a metal plate (can't remember the technical name) where the water had dripped through the corroded o-ring. It...

    Radiator thermostat won't turn off

Yes, I did what you said and then when it didn't work, I took it off again and noticed the brass valve isn't tight. I've tightened it by hand and put the plastic bit back on again, although the plastic rib and arrow are now round the side not facing out. Does this sound right?

    Radiator thermostat won't turn off

A assume the brass valve be as tight as possible before putting the plastic bit on?

    Radiator thermostat won't turn off

Thanks John, those instructions were great. I've secured the plastic bit now, but the heating is off so will wait until tomorrow to check it works. Thanks for making it so straightforward for me! I really appreciate your time. :D

    Radiator thermostat won't turn off

Great. Thanks John. At least I should be able to turn the thing off at least. I've just realised though that when I said the thermostat won't turn to frost, I meant that although it physically turns to frost, the radiator doesn't respond. I think the plastic part is not pushed onto the...

    Radiator thermostat won't turn off

There isn't a white cap on the other end or a little valve that I can see. I need to be able to control the temperature of the rad though as I don't always have the woodburner lit, so it needs to be on sometimes. :?

    Radiator thermostat won't turn off

Hello, I am a complete novice and need help with a radiator thermostat I have that will not let me turn the radiator onto the frost setting. I think it's a Danfoss thermostat RAS C2. The plastic thermostat comes off when I pull it and I can see an arrow on the brass valve attached to the...
