    boiler sticking on (again)

The boiler is controlled by a micro switch in the actuator. The timer and thermostats just motor the valve. The valve body may be stiff, and preventing full movement of the actuator, or the actuator is faulty.

Loud noise, no CH anymore, DM5601 or MK1453 or EP200 faulty?

Yes, it sounds bad, but that was the intention to bypass the fuse, but only if there is another fuse in place. BTW please be careful with that test meter, the low priced units tend to have some pretty poor insulation on the leads and probes.

Loud noise, no CH anymore, DM5601 or MK1453 or EP200 faulty?

OK I can only use your diagram, I really can't remember the fun and games I must have had with those boxes in the past. If you have no reading between 6 & 19 there must be a problem on the board. One suggestion, If the supply to the system is fused at 5 amp or less, can you not bridge 8 to 19...

Loud noise, no CH anymore, DM5601 or MK1453 or EP200 faulty?

Hi From your diagram, I would have thought the fault is only the 5 amp fuse, I would be surprised if this had not blown. Tight nuts. This is no doubt due to jointing compound having got on the threads. I wouldn't think WD40 is going to help much. More force is usually the answer, with a second...

    Condensation in Loft

KenGMac makes a valid point, also that it does appear random. My own house has no roof space ventilation at all - dry as a bone! My concern with all this insulation, is of the pipework and tanks in older properties. There is only so much that can be done to reduce the risk of freezing.

Loud noise, no CH anymore, DM5601 or MK1453 or EP200 faulty?

OK , my mistake, should have noticed the D shaped spindle - thanks stardanny. Same applies though, it's got to be replaced, and the wiring is not the same. It won't matter which make of valve you go for then, there're all much the same. I'm afraid you'll also find you need a few slight...

    Condensation in Loft

Thanks for the feedback. Thats a few possibilities of mine all gone. As you say, it does seem too bad for ventilation alone, and that was the way I was thinking. After all, moisture has got to be getting to the loft from somewhere, yes, some can pass through the structure, but that much...

    Down lighters.....condensation......

Hi Downlights can be a real condensation problem. If these are the open type, ie virtually a bulb in a hole, these can funnel moist air up into the roof space, aided by the warmth from the bulb. No - rockwool in the eaves, and no covers over the lights, they would overheat. If the lights are...

Loud noise, no CH anymore, DM5601 or MK1453 or EP200 faulty?

The SDMV2304 is a mid position valve, from your photo, it looks like you have a two port valve. It's many years since I last changed one of these, and I could be wrong, but I doubt if a direct replacement is still available. Spring return valves seem to be universal these days. I can only...

Loud noise, no CH anymore, DM5601 or MK1453 or EP200 faulty?

Hi Ant It could be that water from that leak has got into the valve actuator and shorted it out. The valve will have to be replaced.

    Condensation in Loft

Whilst all that has been said regarding ventilation is obviously correct, I do wonder what is the source of that amount of moisture. OK, a lot of water surrounding the property, but surely that would have little to do with the internal humidity. If there are tanks in the loft, is there a fault...

    Carpet Underlay

Thank you, that's exactly what I was hoping for, I didn't think anything like that was available.

    Carpet Underlay

Hi, What is the best underlay for hessian backed carpet. I am trying to find something to reduce the denting from furniture. It seems to me that even the top priced foam type underlay compresses too much, causing permanent localised stretching of the carpet. I'm sure this didn't happen so much...
