    240 RSF failed expansion vessel

Not simple in general, or not simple *because* it requires an RGI? The expansion vessel seems attached by a single nut. Pretty easy to replace? Except for the gas valve being in the way. Could you recommend one? I see the original one is bout £35, but I can get any if it's external to the...

    240 RSF failed expansion vessel

Hi, On a 240 RSF, water comes out of expansion vessel valve when depressed. Strangely, pressure does not jump greatly when CH is on. From 0.8 up to about 1.5. I thought a failed vessel would mean a large pressure rise up to 3bar and then PRV venting? I don't get that. The installation manual...

Cleaning a plate heat exchanger Worcester 40cdi

Thanks for the advice. The x800 is pumping round now. I'll see how it goes. Hopefully that will flush out the HE, like it did for the OP. Though I know it's best not to expect miracles from chemicals. I realise a manual flush would probably be more effective. Perhaps with some Kilrock K...

Cleaning a plate heat exchanger Worcester 40cdi

Good news. How long did you leave the X800 in for? Sentinel don't seem to give a maximum time. As you've noted, there is quite a bit of erroneous information regarding this on this forum. What period did you have to run the hot tap for and did you have to repeat this procedure much...

    Ampy 5235a Electricity Meter

Long term usage monitoring. Computers are very useful for number crunching :) Some devices, fridges etc., can only be reliabilty monitored long term. Some clever so and so's have also written software to monitor an old fashioned meter with a webcam: http://www.calc-electric.com/cehome.htm

    Ampy 5235a Electricity Meter

It's an infrared serial IEC 62056-21 (formerly IEC 61107, formerly IEC 1107) interface for communicating with the meter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_62056 Probably the most interesting point for the home user is that you can interrogate the meter for usage data. See here...

    replace radiators

Just replaced quite a few 70s rads. The new ones are much more efficient. Better designed. Not covered in layers of gloss paint. Not full of sludge.

How do I fix this leaking central heating drain point?

Ok. Thanks. So glanded heavy pattern is the one to go for. As Happyplumber so sagely pointed out. However, what's the difference between type A and B? Cheers.

How do I fix this leaking central heating drain point?

It's clear now (thanks guys) that I need a 1/2" threaded fitting. After seeing Happyplumber's suggestion (which I'll get), I've also seen different types. My little knowledge is becoming dangerous. What's the difference between: Type A/B Light/Heavy Pattern Glanded I think that latter...

What would I replace it with? I'm not sure whether that is imperial or not. Cheers.

How do I fix this leaking central heating drain point?

Thanks for the quick reply. Would that be a standard washer? Do you happen to know the type from that pic? Is it possible to replace this with a 'better' valve? Don't really like those square head things. I can see plenty of damage on it from previous users. Cheers.

How do I fix this leaking central heating drain point?

Hi, My central heating drain point has been dodgy for a while, but now refuses to shutoff completely. Constantly dripping. Here it is: It seems to be threaded into the proceeding joint. Marked 1 - 2 P underneath. The proceeding joint is a soldered tee, with what looks like...
