    Draining wet garden

Check out your local recycling centre or local authority in general, for compost (made from all the green waste collected) This is either free, albeit in somewhat limited per consumer basis, or at a small cost, this will not only improve your soil condition but also it's water holding capacity...

    Bedroom window flush to wall?

Ah! Have you done plasterwork before, and in particular used corner beads? First fit the wooden cill, then frame the window/wall with corner beads, set out enough to provide enough depth for your base and finishing coats, on both wall and ingos (ingoing slips) allow the plaster/adhesive to...

Is my render in danger ?

It will certainly give a better seal, as far as the conservation issue, you'd best ask the controlling body in question...pinenot :)

New stair baserail, hsndrail, spindles etc with half wall

Best to cut across the grain with a fine hand saw and chisel down the length of the grain with a broad chisel. Alternatively you could cut out a pocket, starting at one of the cross joints, down to the depth of cut you require, chisel this out and hand saw out the remaining length...

Is my render in danger ?

Right, at this stage I think a polysulphide (suitable colour) to seal up the exposed joint is the best that can be expected. Pity the stop end hadn't been held back half a brick and all render cleaned from the exposed section as this would have been a nicer look, but what's done is done...pinenot :)

lime rendering -bit by bit or all at once?

It's best done all at the same time, so to alleviate unsightly marks/bumps which really spoil the whole effect...pinenot :)

New stair baserail, hsndrail, spindles etc with half wall

Not quite understanding "wall only goes half up" re: the angle iron/concrete base, have you tried hitting the metal with a sledge hammer side to side, to see whether it will slacken? Looking at your pics it looks like you need to cut the top newel post so that the upper part is half thickness...

Is my render in danger ?

Yes but the render had to be applied to something, if not brick what? ...pinenot :)

    firedoor

Ok for some reason your not stating the frame size, but as I gather you have 20 mm (2 cm) each side and the top, adding a hardwood lipping, housed to take intumescent strips, would do the job properly. As per the sketch...pinenot :)
