    Alarm wiring

I cannot see any specs on the Screwfix items and reels unbranded. I suppose you're picking it up so can check what you're getting before you leave. I normally stick to CQR branded alarm cable myself - probably why I haven't been sold the steel based stuff. You can normally pick up on Ebay...

    Alarm wiring

Hmm..., from one of the Screwfix alarm cable reviews: "This cable does not have a COPPER conductor, it has a STEEL coductor with a COPPER coating. DONT PURCHASE IT WILL CAUSE YOU LOTS OF PROBLEMS NAMELY VERY BAD VOLT DROP. Furthermore you are paying for expensive COPPER and you are getting...

    Alarm wiring

Screwfix is fine if you need there and then. £26 is still quite expensive though. Plenty Ebay stores doing .02mm alarm cable for around £15 delivered. Eg. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100m-Reel-White-6-Core-Burglar-Alarm-Cable-/161195691494?pt=UK_Burglar_Alarms&hash=item2588030de6

    Alarm system

The Galaxy G2-12 is probably the cheapest. Not classed as DIY, but install is simple enough. The phone line based back up would only be TAP based SMS though. If dual path is important, you would be better investing in something with GSM based IP connectivity as tbe backup path. Draytek...

Honeywell Galaxy G2 for a Newbie

Really simple. Just two resistors to add to each zone used. Plenty on here to support you with diagrams Etc. Be sure to put an Ethernet line to the panel too. There are modules for IP based connectivity and cheap monitoring on the G2.

    Part set on galaxy g2

A common mistake when programming zones. You are re-entering the zone function menu which overwrites the setting you have just set. You should be able to press 'esc' to back up out of function and then press '#' to review the three settings. It's so much easier doing the programming with the...

Questions on Galaxy G2 hybrid panel

You may be better looking at GSM modules for that. Usually very expensive doubling the cost of the system though. There's nothing cheaper for Ethernet than the Galaxy and low cost Ethernet module. You could always go for that and add RF fobs for setting, keeping the keypad hidden in a...

Questions on Galaxy G2 hybrid panel

    1. No wireless keypad unless you do something with WiFi, virtualkeypad and an Android tablet. 2. The external bell box can only be wired. There's no option for wireless sounders.

    Alarm that'll text me

Speech is fine. SMS based on the old TAP system is not so fine. If you're going to go down the Texecom route, get the COM GSM, then at least the SMS part doesn't used old TAP based services.

    wirless bridge for alarm system?

Not integrated on the Galaxy. Think it's is called wireless I/O expansion. I think Scantronic support or used to support this. There's a panel based module and then external RF modules (with wired zones) are placed in outbuildings Etc. Someone else may be able to expand. I only really...

    wirless bridge for alarm system?

You're looking for a hybrid panel. Ie. Something that can support wired and wireless zones. I use the Honeywell Galaxy for this. You can add an RF portal to the G2 series and this adds wireless device capability. You then have a system that will support wired and wireless devices. I...

Can I do this with an alarm?

You should probably look for a Hybrid system. Something that will support both wireless and wired devices. Also consider Honeywell Galaxy G2 series. Lots of additions and support available. Most of the decent hybrid systems will have fully programmable zones across their complete zone...

    Alarm Recommendation

The FX20 flex panel will most likely meet your needs. But, unless you want the touch screen keypad, then a G2-12 will have all the features you need. At £30 for the G2-12 panel, quite a difference in price too.

    Texecom ComIP Help needed

I was working on the bench, so my power off/on (both mains and battery) didn't impact any external sounders. You should be able to ping when the panel picks up the IP. I did find the documentation from Texe quite sparse around the COM-IP module configuration. I'm no Texecom expert, as I...

    Texecom ComIP Help needed

When my Premier test panel was doing the same, it had actually picked up a DHCP address from the router. I had to disconnect the LAN cable to the panel and reboot, then plug the LAN cable back in after the COM-IP had picked up the panel menu address.

Galaxy Flex 20 - flood alert programming

That's normally how it works. I can test this on a Flex 1 later on for you just to ensure that the functionality hasn't changed. There was another poster on this forum who had issues with the default address settings that the portal used and this then required an address change.
