Insulating and sound proofing vaulted roof

Is it a necessity to insulate over the rafters as well as in between them? As mentioned earlier my plan was to use 165mm celotex and the plaster board straight over the rafters.

Rafters are 9x2so approx 225mm depth I was planning to insulate with rigid board at 165mm leaving a 60mm air gap and then plaster boarding. Is rigid board such as celotex good at keeping sound out? Other options Add a acoustic plaster board Could I incorporate sound proofing in rafters and...

Morning I measured the rafters and different points to determine the pitch. I emailed and spoke to Marley who have said as the head lap has been increased there should be minimum issues. BCO has said that he is happy as it is only off by a degree and that the area of the property is in a low...

Loft Insullation - Mineral Wool, Glass Wool, Rigid Board?!

Having the roof of our dormer bungalow replaced so will be taking the opportunity to refresh the insulation. There is current access to the dwarf walls via a hatch, but it is crawling space so awkward to work in. I think the previous owner's electrician left the current insulation scattered...

    Breathable Roof Membrane - Recommendations

£300 a 1.5m x 50m roll. Never knew they cost so much! I have contacted Viking and Klober to clarify what the airgap should be from insulation to membrane. If a 50mm gap is still required i may just go for the Klober Permo Forte.

    Breathable Roof Membrane - Recommendations

Nearly £200 a roll then! If using a breathable air membrane do you still need to leave 50mm gap between membrane and insulation (in between the rafters). I have 225m joists, was planning on using 165mm celotex leaving a 60mm air gap. If the air gap is not required or can be reduced, i might...
