Mains Smoke Alarm Wiring - Very Odd!!

Hi guys, Just been fitting some new Nest Smoke/C02 mains powered alarms to replace my current mains pawer smoke alarms. Fitted the downstairs one with no issues, wiring as expected, i.e. Brown - Live, Blue - Neutral, Grey - Interconnect (not used on the new Nest alarms, so left disconnected). 2...

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Ok cool. I think I get it now. I need to buy a two gang double pole switch to make this all work. I'll buy a ip rated one so I can put the switch outside.

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Thank you very much. That helps so much!! So are you saying i don't need a extra switch? I can just use the FCU switch? If that's the case what i don't understand is that once the FCU is switched to off, no power will be going anywhere?

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Nope we've already concluded that this lamp doesn't have the override (quick switch on and off) function. That's the whole issue. Thanks

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Ok thanks but I'm still unsure how just wiring up the standard LNE through a switch will give me the three modes of On/Off/PIR. Sorry if I'm missing something.

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Thanks that all makes sense apart from where does the switched live go? On my understanding what you have explained above will just turn the light off and off (ie just supply power to it or not)?

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Ok great. I've now just ordered the lamp so fingers crossed I can get it to do what I want it to do once it turns up. I might wire it all up on the bench first and see if I can get it all to work, ie install my FCU inside the house and before drilling through the wall, wire it up inside. I'll...

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Thanks for this. I thought the L2 was to power another light? Ie the next light in a chain?

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

I was thinking. The only reason why I want the light on all time is when we are in the garden having a bbq etc. But the fact that we are in the garden will mean the pir will see us and turn the light on. So I think just a pir one with no switch will do the job hopefully!

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

No switched live on the lamp I linked to though.

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Yes good points. But having a remote sensor also increases cabling on the outside wall which I don't want as it looks ugly. I want the cable to come out behind the combined light/pir so no cabling is on the wall.

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Thanks very much for this, looks like you are very experienced in using these Steinel products. I think I have more a requirement for a light that can be switched rather than PIR, but it would be nice to have the option for both. I take it if using the 2 gang switch I would need to do that with...

    Steinel PIR Floodlight Question

Thanks, no problem. Hopefully someone knows, but if it does not do what I need maybe it's best to fit a remote sensor to the non pir version of the Steinel light. Or someone could recommend another good quality LED floodlight.
