    Jack Straw

From what I've seen there's an awful lot of interpolation and putting words into mouths going on. He has every right to ask Muslim women to remove the veil when talking to him, just as they have every right to refuse. If both sides are grown ups then no-one would see it as anything other...

    why bother ?

Well I actually derive a lot of amusement from arguing with people who can't admit that they are wrong, or think what they beleive to be true is true for everyone. They always take themselve so seriously and you can make stuff up just to watch them over-react. Prehaps I'm just wierd :D

Part of the joy of living in a land of free speech. We're free to waffle and you're free to completely ignore us!

Thats 10Billion for 10 kids. For the population of the UK thats £165 quid each OK I'm happy to pay 165 quid more tax to save 10 kids lives yes. But I also take the point that there is a boundary where the resources required are simply not available. I personally would be willing to push that...

    THUGS beat up the police

Agreed, its nowhere near perfect, but its the best we humans have been able to come up with thus far, by quite a margin. IMO

Invisible speed camera + traffic calming rants

The purpose is to make money. Why else put camera's on straight bits of dual carriageway where there's never been an accident?

    THUGS beat up the police

You could argue that the whole thing boils down to democracy ( well the odd mangled kind that we have here anyway). The Govornment that collects taxes is democratically elected so in theory it is the will of the majority that taxes be collected. You could therefore say that for the majority...

Thought provoking question eh? "The company of those seeking the truth is infinitely preferable to that of those who think they've found it". ~ Terry Pratchet

    THUGS beat up the police

I think we've been relatively needle free for the last page or so actually. We appear to have discovered a question to which everyone doesn't already think they know the answer, it a refreshing change! :D Plus I love waffles mmmmmmmmmm.......

    On A Daily Basis...

Or they start a question with " Its none of my business but...." This line of enquiry should be terminated after "but". Preferably with a comment like "Oh OK, shut up then."

Well I'd be willing to chip in my share to make everyones kids safer, but apparently thats just me.

That doesn't really answer the question does it. Lets say the statistics show that by implementing restrictions on large dogs will save one child from being mauled to death in the next 12 months. I have peered into the future and that child is yours. Now whats the cost benefit analysis? Is it...

THIS HAS TO BE IN THE TOP TEN BLUNNDERS OF ALL TIME

I think to qualify as a blunder it needs to be a mistake.......that was more like a war crime against their own troops.

    THUGS beat up the police

I think the question stands. Society is a group of people. "Govornment" or the "state" is (supposedly) its representative. So to the answer "never" I would have to repeat the examples above - It is immoral for me to imprison you, therefore it is immoral for the state to imprison anyone...
