    20mm plastic conduit

I always over engineer stuff, mind you 17th edition seems over engineered too, all this trouble to protect cables and the lighting circuit has to be RCD protected anyway :? I guess I could move the metal box and just have the conduit going straight through

    20mm plastic conduit

Nope I've read the information, if you notice the picture behind the conduit is a stud (522-06-06 pt iv) walls form an angle. To further comply I can mechanically protect the conduit from accidental penetration (part iii) or change to metal conduit. I've had to put the conduit where it is...

    20mm plastic conduit

In general for neatness, and any future installations, The partition wall was lathe and plaster which has been removed - made sense to me instead of the cable surface mounted and buried in plaster (and hidden under the old architrave) was to conceal it inside the wall inside conduit.

    20mm plastic conduit

Is it ok to put 2 cables through this (1 x 3core and earth and 1 x T&E (both 1.5mm) for lighting circuit? Thinking of running from loft to ground floor through a partition wall with an inspection T for short run to a metal box (Upstairs lighting circuit and 3core and earth for landing light...

    capping off gas pipe costs

Blimey who'd of thought that capping a pipe would be so complicated! No wonder people DIY stuff.... All that extra stuff, it's kind've like getting the buyer to pay your paypal fees imo... It shows you the knock on effect of all these rulings and fuel costs going up - vicious circle really -...

    capping off gas pipe costs

I never complained about the cost of it, I originally asked what I would be expecting - 50 quid for peace of mind is fine by me, we all need to make a living after all. I'm currently trying to get in touch with the tradesman that originally fitted it for me 15 years ago. I always make the job...

    capping off gas pipe costs

heh, I didn't really explain it well so my bad. I know how long it takes me (i've done copper work before) slice pipe, prepare, add flux - heat up and add solder to the mix - takes me 2 mins. No idea how long it takes to test though so sorry about that, didn't take that into account. tbh...

Have you seen the price of a drink lately ? Don't get me wrong, I'm not wanting this done for peanuts - just want it done right. I understand people need to make a living, didn't expect a lecture!. Easy access to gas cutoff valve (for a change) Floorboards are already up where it...

    Wasps

At the rate they were going in and out, I expected to see some nightmare inducing sized nest in the loft ! For now she's put some insect screen velcroed to the windows they've been coming in (the bathroom - not my idea of fun having wasps taking a shower with you  )

    Wasps

thanks for the tips, She's came up with the idea of using bags of ant powder and throwing them on the roof in the general vacinity, in the hope the wasps will take it to the nest - worth a "shot" i guess. Else i'll go crawling about more in the loft - can't be in the cavity at least as its a...

    Wasps

I've a friend with a wasp problem, the wasps are flying in and out between a length of roof tile just above the eaves (about a 4ft section) I've been in the loft and only found 2 dead wasps and no sign of a nest - even though there's visible light between the felt and tiles. Any ideas how to...

    French Door Opening

I'm currently debating replacing a window with french doors (probably upvc) but i'm unsure if the opening will be too big for them (width of 1300mm and height of 2200mm) Question is would I be best off narrowing the opening to 1100, and reducing the height say to say 2090 ? There will be...
