Is a 240v system safer with MCB's and RCBO or a 110v system? Just trying to get my head around building sites insisting on 110v and i would like to gain knowledge of why when as i understand all CU units of late have MCB's and RCBO's ? (please correct me if wrong here) On a building...

110v multiple sockets hard wired ?

[/url] Thanks for the suggestion. To a "normal" person then great, but how do i put this? ummm, 99% of what im trying to train are not normal. Young kids that are really deprived of common sense and retractable leeds would end up with kids trapped in them. Hence im trying to find a...

Im trying to get knowledge of different systems, products etc so when the sparky is next in (next week as it happens) i know what to ask for rather than go on one persons advice of what they think is...

110v multiple sockets hard wired ?

Its a flooring training centre. So the sockets will be mounted in the students training bays. Problem i have is a lot of the specialist tools are 110v as normally used on building sites. We at the training centre can use 240v but that dont help me with 110v tools. The problem i have at...

110v multiple sockets hard wired ?

Hi, I would like to have installed 110v sockets. Require minimum 11 of them but ideal would be 21 of them depending on cost etc to my next question. I dont want to be using one of the yellow box transformers in each location so would like 110v sockets on the wall. Is there some sort of...

    Heat Exchanger keeps blocking up

Should i have to empty it every 3 months? Every other house i have lived in the boilers have been many years old and run without issue or a filter. So its normal then for the filter to be full of crap every 3 months and i should clean it out sooner like every month maybe? How come i have not...

    Stripy Carpet Fitting on stairs

just to add to the above, why dont you ask your question on a forum used by proffestional carpet fitters / retailers. They should give you a idea of what quality you should expect and decide for yourself if you are being mugged. www.theflooringforum.com

    Stripy Carpet Fitting on stairs

when they plan the carpet out they should allow for the pattern match. That is bare basics. If you was on a budget they should put in writing that you dont want the carpet to match on the stairs as you are on concerned with getting carpet on the stairs and not for matches. As for the spare...

    replacing floorboards before fitting amtico

a high moisture content in floorboards will not be fixed by changing them. there is something causing them to have a high moisture content. ask the installer what the floorboards MC is along with area Humidity and temperature to end up advicing you to change floorboards.

Builder set cable into concrete with no conduit.

Im surprised that the regs dont cover concrete sub-floors with what i read about how strict they are on other items you come across. As you say, the regs are wrong here then. Also being a little stupid by the sounds of things.

Builder set cable into concrete with no conduit.

so who is at fault here? (which i think the op is trying to get at also) Builder / sparky has burred cable in what would be a daft place and its got no protection either (not that i can see the logic behind some thin metal protecting it as you will drill through without realizing anyway)
