    Fence made from gravel boards

Sorry - haven't had much sleep lately (new baby) plus was at casualty with the kids until midnight last night (don't ask!) so my brain isnt functioning 100% today  yeah, we'll just buy 8' post as originally planned. There's just an old(ish) woman on her own next door who just neglects...

    Fence made from gravel boards

It's ok if the water follows the gravel boards because it will then be going away from the house and will just run onto my neighbours garden. The idea is to stop the water running off her patio onto our garden/house wall (her patio runs the wrong way from the left of her house to the right/our...

    Fence made from gravel boards

The fence panels are 6'. We were going to get 8' posts for them but I guess that means we will need 9' for the ones with the gravel boards. (Can you buy 9' concrete posts?) That's going to be interesting because the first one is up against the house and the foundations are only 2' down!

    Fence made from gravel boards

Yeah, that's what we want to do (I guess I didn't make it very clear, sorry!). We were just concerned that the concrete posts might not support the weight. That's why I thought concreting the bottom boards in too might help.

How to add trellis to the top of an old wall

I don't want to seem like I'm butting in but I have done this in my garden. I put treated timber batons on the centre of the top of the wall using those nail/screw things that have plugs already attached. You drill a hole through the baton & into the wall, then hammer them in, then screw them...

    Fence made from gravel boards

Hi, I'm back again :D I'm trying to gather all info for the garden before the bank holiday so we can at least get the materials together and make a start. It's a big project with many areas so I may be picking your brains a lot, sorry! Anyway, we need to replace nextdoors fence to make the...

    Demolition of double garage

Wow, never thought of scrap value - Cheers! :D There's a 'rag n bone' bloke always nosying around here with his horse & cart looking for scrap for cash. I did consider using some of the blocks for the pit though, plus we need a bit of hardcore when we gravel the front garden to make it...

    Weedkiller

That's great, thanks. It was a lot worse than this but we spent 3 days at the end of last summer cutting down trees, brambles, shrubs & clearing the rubbish the builders left (2 skip loads full which we had to pay for!). we're actually quite pleased with how it looks now :D

    Demolition of double garage

I'd still be happy to pay that. I was expecting it to cost more like £2k! Thought it'd need a mini digger & large lorry.

Concrete base / post / fence

I used a roller on mine then a paintbrush just on the edges near the posts. Also flattened a cardboard box & used it under the fence to stop it dripping onto path.

cowboy left us with cold shower!

Yeah, he's done well given the mess our cowboy made of the plumbing  Unfortunately it would mean ripping the bath out & the vinyl flooring we paid to have fitted to put it right properly. It is so annoying because our plumber had a blank canvas - an empty house & a bathroom stripped down...

    Demolition of double garage

Really? That's great. (I wouldn't do it for that!)

    Demolition of double garage

Wow, you work for cheap wages there! Two skips would cost £300 alone here.

cowboy left us with cold shower!

Yipee! I've just had my first warm shower in 8 months! Thanks nogoodatfaultfinding. Hubby says for a Rovers supporter you're a decent bloke  Just out of interest Charles, if we come into money ( :!: ) how much would it cost to put right the bad job our cowboy did & do it...

    Demolition of double garage

We have a garage in our garden that is an eyesore. It was originally built from breezeblock. I think this was then rendered to match the house. I guess that at some point the roof fell in because when we bought the house the whole garage had been clad in industrial metal cladding, probably to...

    Weedkiller

Ok so you'll probably need notes with this  The garden comprises of a rectangle which is a concrete patio area next to the house, overgrown L shaped lawn, double eyesore of a garage, old concrete shed base where cherry tree is and overgrown area to rear of garage and other side of...
