    Weedkiller

Thank you Thermo. I vaguely remember using round up before and thinking it was quite effective. Would laying some weed barrier under the turf help or is that a waste of time/money?

    Weedkiller

I'm a bit confused now that I've read other posts about weedkiller so maybe someone can clarify it for me please? As far as I can gather the only sure fire way to get rid of brambles for good is to use weedkiller. My 'lawn' is interspersed with brambles, moss, weeds and unwanted bulbs. We...

    Weedkiller

Ah well, we don't have a fence because it was our neighbours. It fell down last year but she hasn't replaced it, so fire shouldn't be a problem! I don't want to plant as such, just rubber chippings & gravel mainly but I would like a bit of new lawn in one area. Would I be able to lay it...

    brick lawn edging

My way may not be 'THE' way but I did this at my last house and it was still solid when I moved 10 years later. I dug a trench about 1.5 bricks depth, stamped the soil down with my wellies on (!), scattered around 2" sand on top, laid the bricks using spirit level & a bit more sand to build up...

    Weedkiller

Can't say I have but I know how he feels! Ours is more weeds than garden though, a bit of a wilderness. Not entirely sure how to tackle it really but thought if we could use an industrial strength weedkiller first it would buy some time to clear the rubble & trees we cut down last year before it...

    Weedkiller

Can anyone recommend a fast acting, kill everything weedkiller? We want to clear our overgrown garden (about 1-3' high at moment) which is currently a mixture of thorns, grass, weeds, shrubs and sprouting bulbs and create a rubber chip play area for the kids & a bit of new lawn. I used B&Q's...

    Laying pavers over concrete

Ah. Easy when you know how! I was thinking of using timber at the edges anyway but the t shaped timber is new to me. Thanks for the help, I'm fairly confident now. :D Our preschool could do with someone like you. They've just been quoted £10k to do a small play area for the kids...

    Laying pavers over concrete

Just to clarify - the dry mix mortar - does this work like the dry mix post mix i.e. you put it down dry, tamp it down then add water on top of it? Or do we lay the pavers on it when its dry & wait for the rainwater to seep through & gradually set it like you do when you fill in between paving...

    Laying pavers over concrete

Yes, sorry. I would always double check before buying :) I'm the thinker/ planner/ project manager - hubbys the do-er! I'd never live it down if I gave him the wrong instructions.

    Laying pavers over concrete

Thanks for that. There is a way we could get an idea of how deep the drive is and thats to dig a deep enough hole next to it. That said, we have lived here nearly 6 years and it's not moved despite having a few minor cracks in the surface. It's also had several heavy skips on it after the floods...

    Laying pavers over concrete

Yeah, it's posed us with a problem but a half concrete/half tarmac drive is ugly (and weeds grow through the cracks). It seems a shame to tidy the other half of the garden but leave the drive. That said, we don't have unlimited amounts of money (who does at the mo?). We heard on 'ground force'...

cowboy left us with cold shower!

I'll email you details (once I figure out how to!). Is there any chance you can come next weekend instead? We're a bit tied up this week. We're a stones throw away from Boothferry park I'm afraid. I think I might have to ban all rugby chat though cos it could get nasty  And I deffo...
