greenstar 24i combi boiler with a low temp DHW

What flow rate do you have? Time how long it takes to fill a 1 litre jug from the hot water tap, repeat the process a few times and take an average. Then post your result. James.

    Oops :@( (Magnaclean Woes)

I've started fitting the Spirotrap MB3's. 20 year guarantee, mainly composed of brass, baffles to filter non magnetic particles and a drain valve. James.

    Keston Replacement

In theory it should be the opposite as the Logics and Kestons are virtually the same unit, but Kestons are more versatile with their positioning due to the twin flues. Don't get me wrong Kestons in their past had their faults, but when I carried out their warranty work, the majority of the...

    Keston Replacement

If the flue is a problem, have you had a look at the, wait for it, Keston Combi? They are basically an Ideal Logic with the twin flue and a Keston badge. I used to do warranty work for Keston so I feel your pain. On the other hand, one of my former colleagues has a full time job with Ideal...

    Secondary circulation

As Dan said, but add lovely thick insulation to the pipework, especially where the water will be circulated. James.

Valliant Plus 418 Heat Exhanger broken after hot water tank

Looks like one of those super dooper 15/20 minute services. If your 'heating engineers' call that a boiler that's been serviced annually then they are having your pants down. Didn't you hear them shout "Aye ho Silver!" as they left? James.

Magnaclean or what else would do

I'm going to have a look at the Spirotrap MB3 on my next few installs. Heard about some Magnacleans leaking on this forum and outside of the forum. James.

Are long 10mm pipes to kitchen sink OK?

You seem confident that you'll be able to install 10m of 10mm without any fittings. Certainly doable though, I'm not saying it's impossible. Plus I'd have never thought that 10mm would be so workable.  James.

Are long 10mm pipes to kitchen sink OK?

Approximately 0.5Bar pressure drop over 10m of 10mm table x copper tube at a flow rate of 6l/min. This would give a velocity of around 1.7m/s though. This is based on a water temperature of 10°C. Edit: Excluding fittings. James.

Are long 10mm pipes to kitchen sink OK?

In that case shouldn't the secondary circulation pump be left on continuous, I.e. not operated by a PIR or a time clock? James.

Are long 10mm pipes to kitchen sink OK?

No problem, obviously pipe thickness varies considerably between manufacturers. For your needs, the heat losses involved will be negligible. Don't forget to include the pipework from the DHW cylinder to the start of the 10mm. James.

Are long 10mm pipes to kitchen sink OK?

    So following on with a flow rate of 6 litres/minute: To calculate how long it would take for the water at 0m to pass through 10mm pipe at 10m: Duration (s) = ((60 / Flow rate (l/m) ) x Total pipe volume (litres) ) = ((60 / 6) x 0.5024) = (10 x 0.5024) Duration = 5.024 seconds Again...

Are long 10mm pipes to kitchen sink OK?

    To find the pipe volume per metre, first work out the pipe area (internally). Using 10mm pipe with a wall thickness of 1mm: Area (m2) = Pi x ((Pipe diameter (m) / 2) - pipe wall thickness (m))squared) = 3.14 x (((0.01/2) - 0.001) x ((0.01/2) - 0.001))) =...
