Trying to get rid of unwanted saw

Hey. Can't vouch for the macAlsiter saw, but I've got a couple of other tools by MacAlister and, IMO as a hobby joiner type, they punch higher than their price range. If your looking for a budget compound mitre chop saw, for work where +/- a degree is ok, then I'd say it's worth the...

what has the sudan done for us.

Sounds about right!  Said Govt department would then be sent on 3week 'Cultural awareness training' to stop them infringing on other cultures rights ...

what has the sudan done for us.

I've been thinking about that. Rightly or wrongly, the 'Teddy Teacher' broke the law in Sudan. Whether we agree with the jurisprudence is irrelevant. She broke the law for which the agreed punishment is either 4yrs or 40 lashes. The fact that she was sentenced to only 15 days is where I and...

    Mixed feelings

Solemmegetthisstraight... You're forking out £270 odd of your own money on an I-Phone for her ... which she's both fine with and knows about... ... and yet she won't let you spend, what, £60ish of your own hard-earned on a part for your car because she wants you to buy stuff for her and...

what has the sudan done for us.

Fair point NickStone, but it's not the Sudanese people nor the Clerics that we are paying money to. It's the Sudanese govt. (via the World Bank) They are the one's that have acted so leniently towards the teacher (too leniently, IMO). Not the Sudanese muslims nor their Clerics. In a report I...

what has the sudan done for us.

"What has Sudan ever done for us" Aside from: a) Sudan being the only oil producing country in East Africa with huge oil reserves, b) Being a substantial trade partner for the UK (£155m from exports to Sudan in 2006) and: c) Having once been under Anglo-Egyptian governance from...

    What's this song?

Where on TV did you hear it? Programme or ad? Not that M&S/debinhams/boots advert, by any chance? 'Here come the girls'?

Is it recommended/easy making a tongue and groove bath panel

I made a bath panel and dado-level cladding (wainscotting :?: ),for my mother, out of 7mm T&G cladding from B&Q. Runs all around the bathroom (incl. above bath). Sealed with clear yacht varnish on outside face. It's been up for 5yrs with no signs of warping/splitting/rotting/mould whatsoever.

There's A Place For You In Teaching - My Place!

My wife is a teacher. Some of the stories she comes come with from her class's behaviour are pretty outrageous! One 12yr old girl (large for her age - wife is fairly petite) had her pinned against the wall using a chair with the legs either side of her (yes, yes, Joe-90, very funny... :roll...

    no flags

Perhaps it's me being naiive / ignorant about football, but: is it not the players fault if they lose games and subsequently fail to qualify? Beckham and his ilk are being paid £X,000's per game, presumably to do their best to win. I'm guessing that these players are at the top of their game...

    Insulation

Wish I'd done that before fitting/tilling my bathroom :( 2 walls are external and are tilled. Place is like a sodding freezer in winter! With hindsight, I'd have battened, insulated with something like Kinspan / jablite (safe for that job??), P Boarded/Aqua Paneled and tilled. Oh...

    Erbauer 1/2" router.

Good enough for me! :D Like I said, will only need it for those 'now-and-then' jobs, so don't want to spend boatloads on one. Off to eBay with me pennies it be!

    Handrail & spindle replacement.

Cheers fellers! :D The replacement for the longer handrail on the landing is going to be off-set on the newl. At the moment, the spindles from the landing balustrade are fixed to the sloping (raking??) handrail. Looks crap and means you cant get your hand around it for the first/last meter...
