Hi ,you don't repair the switch ,you replace it with a suitable new one.
And check the condition of the cables , particularly the insulation and copper conductors.
I Suppose there is a limited chance that a complete blockage of pipework may occur ,but it's unlikely in my opinion.
You could try contacting the manufacturer claiming it's a design fault and should be replaced free of charge.....
Unless someone has figured out a way to repair that I am unaware of , I am afraid a new cylinder would be required. That's not cheap, a few thousand pounds .
After 16 years it will not still be under warranty. You could contact B/gas to see what your cover extends to,but I doubt it will cover the cost of a new cylinder.
