    Ring Doorbell Alternative

I believe so yes, https://support.eufy.com/s/article/When-eufySecurity-Devices-Encounter-Power-and-Internet-Outage This has a table of what will/wont work for each of their devices with/without internet and power.. I wondered that if the WiFi is still up (but internet connection from router to...

    Ring Doorbell Alternative

Not quite sure how the Nest works, but logic says that if it is a WifI doorbell that records to the cloud, when the WifI signal is degraded/blocked and/or your Internet connection drops, then it will not be able to do this and therefore it wont record anything. The only way around this is if...

    Ring Doorbell Alternative

I have ditched my Ring and fitted a Eufy C31 with a MiniBase chime and also integrated with Alexa. Working great after a few initial frustrations. 128GB card set for constant recording gives just over 2 weeks of recording time. Glad I ditched the Ring! I have it set to record directly onto a...

    Slow drain from bathroom waste

Thanks for the replies guys.. Had another chance to look at this today. I put food colouring down the pan and with the inspection chamber opened observed the flow. After a very brief amount of clear water i see the coloured water come straight out. Doing the same with toilet tissue in the pan...

Upstairs - Low Pressure after switching of mains supply

Disclaimer: I'm not a plumber... On my MegaFlow system there is a procedure to follow when draining and re-filling the cylinder to re-charge the air gap that creates the flow pressure. https://www.gledhill.net/products/unvented-cylinders/stainlesslite-indirect/ Looking at the manual for your...

Air vent valve added to gravity fed heating system - not sure why

I thought all pipe and connections within 2m of the boiler needed to be soldered copper, looks like you have a push-fit and a compression joint too..

Megaflow Cylinder - Failed pressure relief valve on water inlet

Hi, I have noticed a leak on my Megaflow cold water inlet pipework, after the isolator, before the cold inlet to the bottom of the cylinder. It is leaking between the nut and the base of the 8bar pressure relief valve. It is loosing about 1 drip a second so cant stay like this. I isolated the...

    Slow drain from bathroom waste

So I removed the basin trap, this improved things slightly, the toilet and bath both drain better. I then placed my hand against the open basin soil pipe to block it up and flushed the toilet. As the toilet slowly drains I can feel air wanting to escape the basin soil pipe into the room. So i...

    Slow drain from bathroom waste

Six months ago i re-did our main bathroom, moved the bath, sink and toilet and re-plumbed to the main soil stack, see image. Was all working fine until recently. The sink continues to always drain no problems, but the bath now drains slow as does the toilet. Occasionally when the toilet is...

Can i take power from a switched live?

The portable screen may well be double insulated and not need an earth. Having said this, you can-not simply take the 'unused' earth and use it as a neutral as you imply.

    Over voltage

The standard mains voltage in the UK is 230 volts, with a typical tolerance range of 216.2–253 volts. This is a range of -6% to +10%. Applying ohms law to voltage and current states that the higher the voltage the lower the current. All sounds a load of b0**0**$ to me.

Bathroom extractor that closes and seals out drafts?

To not have to fork out for the DTM module (i was not aware of the 2 min max time limit, this would have definetly sold it to me to implement my own solution), I fitted a Shelly 1 Mini Gen 3 device in the wiring that waits 10 mins upon power on and then turns on power to the fan, problem solved...

    Home Automation System

I have fitted Sonoff T3 switches throughout, works great integrated with Alexa and Home Assitant. Need a neutral at each light switch though so check your wiring first.. As for Eithernet, I'd flood wire from a central point, understairs cupboard or loft etc with connectivity back to your main...
