    The power of propaganda.

Those are some powerful rose tinted glasses you have, where did you buy them?

PC TURNS ON & OFF BY ITSELF

Basically yes. But the problem you have is really simple, I am slightly concerned about anyone acting as a repair shop yet can't fix such an issue with ease, it is a simple case of swapping out bits until you find the culprit, which is only difficult if you are not sitting on a pile of spare...

    Should we take more Syrian's?

You can't just pick and choose your basic economic arguments like you picked and chose which parts of my post to quote. Supply and demand drives up prices, but the money still needs to be available for those prices to be maintained. Houses are being sold at the high prices = ergo the money in...

PC TURNS ON & OFF BY ITSELF

I don't know why either, it is an easy enough problem to solve if you have spare bits to try (all you do in these situations is try swapping out the bits until you find the culprit). Could be memory, no harm in trying a different stick, or if it has two alternating between them, but it is not a...

    Should we take more Syrian's?

Actually 20 to 30 years ago lot's of people could not afford mortgages, which is why we built lot's of social housing. Or would you like to argue both about the lack of council houses being built compared to yesteryear, but also that people didn't need them, the circular logic of that one could...

15-20 years as the metals within the disc oxidise as the plastic shell degrades. Though not all discs, and your home environment will have a + or - impact.

    Wood slivers

If you are not sure about filling the smaller gaps, worth bearing in mind that a floor like this is probably fairly stable (in that the environment is stable), but a leaving a few gaps does allow for some expansion should it occur. Some people full fill and never have any problems, so no...

Larch - as a deck - to treat or not to treat

Some oil's can contribute to mould, or simply not prevent it, lot's of variables. Use a coating with both a pigment and fungicidal additives if you want a decent life, anything water repellent will help keep it dry and help reduce the risk of rot if well maintained. Clear finishes will tend to...

In order of likely-hood. 90% Duff power supply, as they go bad they tend to behave exactly like this. 8% likely-hood of duff motherboard (also bear in mind cheap power supplies can **** the motherboard up when they break). 1.9% GPU 0.1% CPU (when they overheat, they just throttle back, even...

    The power of propaganda.

What this kind of reporting demonstrates is the need for a British public funded independent broadcasting entity or corporation to ensure high journalistic standards. Sigh, if only such a thing could be....

    Should we take more Syrian's?

Lot's of bellyfeels about 'the good ole days' and how things are not as good as they were. Nevermind the increase in wealth, education, employment technology and general quality of life from even 20 years ago. No, to many brown people, Political correctness and a general lack of stiff upper...

    Criminal people smugglers or saviors?

Not really, pretty dumb question. They charge a fortune, and their mode of transport may or may not kill you or your children.

    Should we take more Syrian's?

I really don't care about the economic side of the argument. We are a rich nation, we can afford to take in millions (yes, millions) and house them service them and not see a huge negative effect on the economy (Note, whilst I say this is possible I do not say it is likely, as it is we can't...

    Should we take more Syrian's?

Because this statistic, like his arguments, is a load of cobblers. There are 200,000 empty homes (the other 4-500,000 have been empty for less than 6 months, many places sit empty between sales/renters etc) Now out of that 200k you will have houses that are being renovated, in the arse end of...

    Should we take more Syrian's?

Syria and similar are ****holes, full of voilence, corruption crime. Same as the UK was hundred plus years ago. 100 so years ago women were seen as inferior, crime and corruption was higher and the people were generally ****tier. Not sure what benifit these people will have to society any...

Problem in setting gate posts in water (high water table)

It is so that you don't put the post into a concrete 'cup' that will hold water. Decay happens near ground level because you have water and oxygen, having a hole/gap in the concrete allows (in a limited manner) water to drain away. Though as you say it doesnt matter much in your situation.

Any advice about sorting this floor out?

Anything that locks together will have a risk of creaks if it is not supported by a flat base. The easiest option would be to lay down some plywood, packed as necessary, to provide a level base. Obviously this will raise the floor level a bit. If you can't do that then what you suggest...
