    There should be an isolator fitted to that supply cable to you're outbuilding if it's more than 3 meters to the CU in the outbuilding. And why are there taped up cables coming from the house ? Where's the earth ?:confused: DS

    You would require a 5th wire for that. This switch has 4 = 2x stappers 1x sw wire (hall light) 1x live feed. The OP had already identified the live and maked it when they removed the switch. DS

    I prefer not to use the 'pick and mix' method, to wiring. It was a comfort to note the silence from the electrcians while pick a wire any wire game went on! At one point the OP was told to check all other lights were working ! With no mention of making safe the wiring hanging out the wall...

    I assume both supply legs of the ring are paired at the 32a switch and connected to the 'suppy' and the kitchen ring is connected to the 'load' ? DS
