    Mist vs Bullseye 123

Excellent. On reflection downstairs we actually have about 40 spotlights (not our doing!) and some are a bit poor where it looks like someone's ripped them out and not done it very carefully. I was going to build up filler and rebuild the hole but I'll look into that. Just ordered some spot drops!

    Mist vs Bullseye 123

Yep, poxy masking tape. Plumbers said to pull the lights down and put in a sandwich bag, but I pulled a bit and met a fair amount of resistance, so didn't want to mess up the perfect holes in the new lid! I think I'll have to pull a bit, then use Gardz on a trimmed out area, thin skim of...

    Mist vs Bullseye 123

Well, I've completed this now... And horror of horrors it's not good news :( The 10% diluted coat went on well, soaking in, drying as I went etc. Another coat at full strength the day later, then two coats of perma white. Just taken the masking tape off the spot lights and peeled some paint...

    New Paint Roller

Yeah 3/8 dove. That's what I have been using on and off this week, seems to work well :) I do like to tinker though, the ice fusion ones from Pro Dec were a firm favourite for a whole - did three rooms in them now I reflect. The paint pickup is too low though, always going back to the paint...

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

I shall. We're at sbout 36 hours now and it's still soft and tacky currently painted up to it in the interests of making progress. I think if I said I've got to down tools for 5 days and keep us in a state of limbo my wife would explode lol. We're having our family bathroom redone (the room...

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

Well I'm making good progress on this, got my frame sealant in and tooled instead of the manky silicone - it actually looks pretty decent :) The filling first (then priming) looked okay too. Seems it takes an age to cure though, 3-5 days! Not sure if I should treat like caulk and paint...

Dealing with easy peel paint (no mist coat used on fresh plaster)

Ah man that sounds grim. All the bloody little bits get everywhere too! Carpet, skirting etc! Perhaps the WallRock lining paper is a better option? I think you might want to use zinsser Gardz on it first but look into that, it's a hunch from reading about it for other reasons if mine. The...

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

Ah I see, makes sense. So Tourpret thinly over the bare plaster to the existing psint, then sand. Paint the reveal white (I'm going to paint the hole room white before painting pale pink, the white will help). Then frame sealant, thin bead. Looking around the house it's a mix really, some...

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

So you're suggesting a simple filler as you'd use anywhere else on the walls say to, cover holes from raw plugs, cracks etc? As opposed to a bead of something which at the moment looks to be either acrylic frame sealant or acrylic caulk - I can't actually see a difference between them tbh...

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

I've seen the red devil you mention, which I also saw recommended on some decorating you tube video last night coincidentally. https://paintwell.co.uk/red-devil-one-time-caulk-sealant-380ml A very thin bead of that may be enough perhaps. Doesn't look like I'd need an 8mm bead or anything really

    Durable satinwood.. Coloured..

I'd not considered that - ironically mainly because of the yellowing, which obviously doesn't happen if your paint is blue or green lol. The jury is still out. After sewing the seed in my brain I think my wife is back pedaling. I think I need to take a picture and try to recolur some bits in...

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

I'd actually say it's less than 1mm. Window ledge to window this is the *widest* gap. Window frame to reveal, again, essentially no gap.

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

Interesting. The gap is very small all around 1mm at most I'd say. I actually have a tube of Stixall which a wooden floor fitter left for me. Interesting, I thought it was basically a variant of gripfill/pinkgrip type stuff as opposed being like Ct1. I'll take a picture of the gaps I'm...

    New Paint Roller

Yeah, looks cool. I looked at the pelican first, but the speed bucket will accommodate the 6.5 rollers too. Best price seems to be paintwell.co.uk alas I don't need to spend £60 to get free delivery just yet!

Sticking down lifted silicone - window frames

Interesting, thanks Opps. I somehow (a lot going on at the moment) cross posted on Screwfix whilst reading on something else on there unrelated. Someone on there suggested acrylic frame sealant too. The name certainly makes sense. I guess by ms polymers the popular ones would be Ct1, ob1 and...

    New Paint Roller

I stocked up on those goodies from Paint Well a little while ago. Once I'm don't prepping I can use them! I'll probably steer clear of the double arm then - I find 9" plenty big enough. So many of our rooms have 'bits' that I spend more of my time eith a mini than full size roller! Going to...

Dealing with easy peel paint (no mist coat used on fresh plaster)

We recently had the same problem. Was just one wall though. I used one of the 'American'/heavy duty scrapers (carefully!) and a steamer. Did a mist coat then filled with Tourpret. Just sanded it back today actually. Due another mist coat again me thinks. Then top coats. I did use knauff...

Yep, me too, especially with nearly two tins of 123 at my disposal!

Well it's all (mostly!) out now. Was skankier than I thought and came out mostly quite easily. Now to practice for the more tricky bit
