    Cabling for motorised valves

Unvented cylinders do not need to be at the top of a house, as they run off mains pressure, with a small reduction. Basically you have the mains water come into the "airing cupboard". Then you have a pressure reducing value with 3 outputs. 1. Water out supply to water cylinder 2. Water out to...

    Cabling for motorised valves

I don't know who mentioned explosions. But you can't just leave unvented cylinders unmaintained for years, else they will fail early and have to be replaced at cost ££££ Good news is that is easy to do yourself. Once a year you just move 3 valves/taps for ~10 mins, draining off the expansion...

Converting old heating control to socket

So you could fit a 10A fuse in the fcu and run almost anything on a single socket. Don’t think there are many things that use the full 13A these days.

Converting old heating control to socket

Some where there should be an fcu with 3a fuse to turn it off. The live is the red wire on the left. The hole spacing is designed to fit a single socket. Depends what you want to plug in really or just make it tidy?

    Cabling for motorised valves

"I've extended the CH pipes to where a cylinder would go" Obviously think about summer time (for example). You need boiler hot water to the cylinder when the heating is off. The return can be combined with the CH return. These days you also need a bypass valve, for when all the motorized...

wiring up a lighting photocell without a neutral wire?

I think they actually use the voltage drop across the triac to power the electronics

wiring up a lighting photocell without a neutral wire?

They don’t need neutral, but you must use an incandescent lamp. Sadly no battery to charge. The second the bulb fails or the power goes off, they loose their memory

Gas main earth bonding has been removed

You would like to hope an EV installer would fix easy and dangerous things when pointed out to them. All of 10 mins to sort. Don’t they have some basic checks / forms to fill in. Says a lot about the ev cowboys too

    Kitchen lighting ideas?

Yeah I am liking the panel lights from Www.lights.co.uk 16% off at present. Common to have 13% off offers Got 4 of them now. Over 3 rooms. First 2 purchased in 2021 When replacing 6ft tubes I did have to make the plaster look tidy on the ends. Light output is great. Can’t believe the spread...
