Is 3 live and 1 neutral return allowed

Thanks for the replies - The remote adapters won't be the option as he's [ my Pop] not going to want them powered up all the time - oddly contrary to being happy that the tv amp is on 24/7..... *sighs*

Is 3 live and 1 neutral return allowed

My parents bungalow:- They have a pair of sockets behind their TV and 1 by a door. Checking out in the loft and behind the sockets, the ring main comes in and leaves each socket = 2 cables down each conduit to each socket point. They want to be able to have 3 sockets behind the TV, switch 2...

    safety zones within kitchen

Hi! I'm doing a refurbishment of a '50's bungalow kitchen. There's a consumer unit [ meter and old push-in fuse box etc ] on the wall to the right of the kitchen sink. What's the current distance it should be away from the sink and, if I'm doing a replacement of the kitchen units and...

Underfloor insulation - possible or not?

There's a thought.... Wonder how well that would work under carpet? Guess if I glue or tack it it should be ok...

Underfloor insulation - possible or not?

Hi Folks! I'm doing some renovation work for an old lady. She has a bungalow of single wall block on brick construction which has a dry-lining [ I'd say ]. The place is Bl**dy cold. Her floor appears to be a concrete slab, over which a wooden [floor boards] is laid - nailed to joists...

    Straightening push-fit barrier pipe

Yeah, I much prefer copper too but some folks have ideas which just give me headaches.... Despite my preference, I've never had a problem with plastic fittings & usually use Hep2O but he's got a load of Speedfit I'm supposed to use...... d'oh! If I remember correctly, he has a redundant...

Is it? Circulation pump / boiler stat / blockage / air?

I've not re-dosed the system since the first set of valve replacements - so I guess it's eating away again where it was eating when I first moved in [ inside the boiler I'm guessing ]! If it looks like I'm not going to swap them out this side of the New Year I'll dose it again as it'll start...

Is it? Circulation pump / boiler stat / blockage / air?

When I moved in, I discovered the previous owners had never had inhibitor in the system - I drained out black water at that time and keep it topped up with inhibitor whenever I have to drain any - Draining this time I had and will have to do again, as the valves either side of the pump are not...

Is it? Circulation pump / boiler stat / blockage / air?

Yeah! Kinda guessed that one.... So the pump's probably not pushing it far enough! If it's been in as long as the boiler, I guess it's not done too bad! Thank you for your reply!

Is it? Circulation pump / boiler stat / blockage / air?

Further to :- http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=159928 I replaced the boiler stat which I don't trust as the old one would not consistently start the boiler when cold enough and was asked for. I have a 20yr old Camray 2 - the guys at Part Center gave me a stat which they say...

Camray II - possible thermostat or CH pump prob?

I appreciate the temp was set too high - surprised me, guessing 1 of the lodgers has been fiddling. I normally have it at 80 but will drop it a tad. I determined the stat wasn't working as there was no 'click' as it turned through the range and a meter across the live into the stat and a...

Camray II - possible thermostat or CH pump prob?

The boiler went cold although powered & the CH pump was running, front panel stat set to 90 degrees. I determined that the front panel thermostat was not working [ power into but not out of ] and assumed that is the problem. As it was cold and lodgers begging for hot water, I bypassed the...

    Trim UPVc door frame

A mate had a door which I could utilise if I can trim the frame a bit. Is it possible to trim a UPVC doorframe? How much is plastic and how much is metal frame? Would a Jigsaw fitted with a metal cutting blade do it???? The current appature is 32.5" - the door in it's frame is 34...

    Electric pipe freezer operation question

Thanks guys! I kinda assumed the fan should run straight off... seems pointless not to draw air though the radiator fins. I can fix that - not looking forward to a refill cost for the gas though....... If car refills are any thing to go by! D'oh!

    Electric pipe freezer operation question

I have acquired a FreezeMaster FRE350D pipe freezer. Firstly, should the fan run as soon as it's switched on or does it wait until it gets warm - If the latter, is that likely to be more than 10 minutes. Secondly, is it typical for 1 of the freeze heads to freeze much faster than the...

Moving a boiler and efficiency regulations

A friend of mine is about to have an extension built. This will involve moving his current oil-fired boiler. Will he have to conform to todays regulations regards the efficiency of boilers [ he doesn't currently have a condensing boiler ] as it's a move and not new installation?
