    Galvanised half round guttering

We don't do galvanised half round but we do zinc, copper or stainless steel half round. In either 4", 5" or 6" with matching down pipes. You can get galvanised but the joints are sealed with silicone, whereas we solder the joints with the other materials.

    hello fellow roofers and DIY's

Totally agree with woody on this one! Although we have been accused of destroying the industry, the majority of residential work is re-roofing if we install a roof that lasts over a hundred years we are hurting are fellow roofers by taking away future work. Unfortunately I know more bad...

    hi all

This is an indoor heated swimming pool with lots of glass, it has to be a top notch roof hence why 90% is 200mm foamglas with zinc on top. I'm going to try and persuade the client to change the single ply to zinc as I can't find anyone who knows the correct build up. Thanks for your help anyway.

    hi all

Surely there is thermal transfer through the long screws creating cold spots?? As I've said before where is the vapour control layer or ventilation in single ply membrane roofs??

Flat roof to be replaced by a pitched roof.

Just out of interest what stops the warm moist air condensing on the cold single ply membrane.......... .......there was no mention of vapour control layer or ventilation?? And don't even mention foil backed plasterboard.....about as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Stainless steel. You can do it in one piece with a fall of 1:100. No weight issues as its only 0.5mm thick and will last hundreds of years.

warm pitched roof detail - ventilation

A warm roof does not have any ventilation! Any small "voids" in a warm roof are areas of risk where condensation can occur, no matter how small. What you're describing is a cold roof.

    Metal roof - lancashire

Have to agree with Joe on this one. Noise and condensation problems aside, if the system is so good why don't more people have it? At the end of the day the client can have whatever they want but I'd want at least £15k to do it. Save yourself £10k and have it traditionally tiled.

    Metal roof - lancashire

I don't want to put you off but going for stainless steel, tile option is very expensive. A rough estimate would be around £25000.00 . There are much more cost effective options, zinc long strip would be cheaper and last just as long.
