    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

Thanks for getting back. I have to go out now won't be back till late. I don't think it is the black wire as the other boiler is wired the same and that's ok. What appears to be new is that with the HW switch down (red/white triangle) the boiler seems to flare up from time to time. I can hear it...

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

About the black wire it goes from top of (behind terminal block) into III, not T3. Sorry for confusing the issue.

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

    Wiring into box:- I - 0, II - black, III - 0, 1 - blue, 2 - Brown, 3 - Brown, 4 - blue, 5 - 0, 6 - 0. 230v to 1, disconnected 4 blue zero V, 230v between 2 & 4. Not sure if I have done this right. If not do you have the time to be patient with me and take me through it step by step? T 5...

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

iPad - that's nice, would save me running up and down the stairs to my steam driven PC. On closer inspection not a bridge between 1 & 2, black wire feeds from behind top of terminal block into T3. Cannot think it is incorrect wiring as nothing has been disturbed since working properly...

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

Back plate on timer and continuity test on timer switch functions all appear good, so still at a loss. No breaks in wires from timer to control box and bridge between 1 & 2 is good. Mike

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

Removed timer from back plate and boiler still fires up - CH and HW. Got continuity from T4 on boiler to T3 on timer so no break in wire. The run from the timer to T4 does not appear to be interrupted so I am wondering if there is a fault on the timer back plate. Mike

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

First of all thanks for staying with me. Tony, I have 2 timers for 2 boilers next to each other. The timer on boiler 1 works fine so I slid it off and swapped it with timer 2. Boiler 2 still did not work so ruled out timer. The831Bunny I am about to remove the timer as you suggest and see if...

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

Now you're losing me. Where is '103' T3, presumably the terminal box. As the boiler has functioned for as long as it has I don't think it's wired incorrectly. I did check the fuses. The HW pre heat switch is always pressed in at bottom, R/W triangle. All I can say is that it has worked fine...

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

Hi again Bunnyman and thanks gas112. Turned off the LH rad switch and boiler immediately shut down, switched it on again and boiler fires up. Do you still think it's the water valve? Not quite sure as you say 'if it's still running.' Where is the water valve? gas 112 refers to flow...

    VAILLANT 20/1 T3 W WON’T SWITCH OFF

Vaillant 20/1 T3 W Combi, Randall 103 timer, no room thermostat. C/H and H/W all work fine. Noticed that controls on timer were not working so switched timer to another Randall 103 I knew to be working. (2 identical boilers and timers side by side – big old house). Same problem, so not the...

vaillant 20/1 T2W CH starts and stops

Well done sir. I forgot to say that I bought the whole flow switch. It would have cost about £50.00 just for the wax stat and up to 5 days delivery. As the other unit came complete and was available locally I decided to spend the extra. I will now order the wax stat and rebuild the one I have...

Pitch Pine - getting the paint to stay put

Built 1900, Rear of house south west facing. All the wood is sound original pitch pine (still oozing resin in places). The front is fine but the back with the sun on it sheds paint and needs re-doing every couple of years. I have gone back to bare wood, primed, undercoated, glossed and prayed to...

vaillant 20/1 T2W CH starts and stops

Hi Bunnyman, if your still there, and colleagues of course. Boiler working fine, no strange noises and rads nice and hot. However, the flames rise and then lowers about every 7 or 8 secs. Is this what is called modulating and is it a feature of this Vaillant? It didn't seem to do it before. The...

vaillant 20/1 T2W CH starts and stops

Just an update and thank you for your advice. Descaled main heat exchanger using a circulating pump, including bypassing the HW circuit. (As soon as I put a hose through doubted it was the problem). Refitted and CH still not working. Stripped flow switch, dropped wax stat in pan of water and...

vaillant 20/1 T2W CH starts and stops

Thanks Bunnyman, only replaced the diaphragm 'cos the other was very stretched and the local spares had one. Removed the HE and run hose and compressed air through it seems to be flowing well. Just going on what the second heating guy said was wrong. The flow switch does rise but whetether...
