    Bubbles, wallpapering drying and dehumidifiers

A heater! Now why didn't I think of that! I've put one in there on low so I'll see what happens. Cheers, mate. Another quick question...how long does it take the pros to decorate a room that means about 3.2m x 2.5m, with one window? I enjoy wallpapering but it does take me ages!

    Bubbles, wallpapering drying and dehumidifiers

Hi all, Yesterday I wallpapered the two biggest walls in our box room. I've hung wallpaper quite a few times and have never had a problem and have even hung this same paper. This room is just looking goddamn awful! There are a LOT of bubbles everywhere and it's been nearly 24 hours without...

Old Glow-worm Space Saver ignition problem

Thanks for your responses guys. Yes, he did leave me without the boiler being lit - he said that it'd beaten him! He got it lit twice with the cover off and, to be honest, I didn't understand why he didn't light it manually and then put the cover on...or at least try. Tony, he only rang...

Old Glow-worm Space Saver ignition problem

Tony, I'm not completely sure what you're talking about and clearly you're still pretty angry about the other guy's post about not paying for a tradesman. I paid for a service and have arranged for the same guy to come back and fit the ignition switch. I am merely asking is it worth sourcing the...

Old Glow-worm Space Saver ignition problem

Evening all, The pilot light on our Glow-worm Space Saver 38 (30 year+ old) went out a while ago but now the weather's turned cold I tried to relight it a couple of weeks ago. No spark. I've just had it serviced today and the gas man has put the problem down to the ignition switch itself...

Painting over oil based with water based

A light rub down, Dulux Super Grip, and then your top coat should do the trick. Haven't done it myself but I do have the same problem. Dulux gloss has gone very yellow due to lack of light. Now going to be using water-based in all the other rooms... Paul.

Wickes plasterboard sealer - any good?

Hi, I'm about to wallpaper a room that has two bare plasterboard walls. From my previous topic I was told that they need to be sealed first - Gyproc Drywall Sealer was recommended, but a mist coat will also do the job (I've got loads of Dulux trade matt emulsion knocking about). I think I...

    Wallpapering over plasterboard - sizing/primer?

Cheers, Dec. I've got tubs of trade matt emulsion so that's the boards sorted then. Any recommendations for lining paper? Boards are going to be pretty good when I've sanded the filler so I'm thinking 1000 grade? B&Q stuff has got good reviews (on their website!) - is it actually any good or...

    Wallpapering over plasterboard - sizing/primer?

Hi all, In one of our rooms two walls are external and are plastered and painted. Obviously I'll size these before I hang the wallpaper. The other two walls are plasterboard/drywalls. What preparation is needed before I hang the wallpaper? Oil-based primer/sealer? Which one is best (links...

    Best underlay for office?

Hi all, In our current home office we've got crumb rubber underlay as we were told it would be the best underlay due to the office chair being on it. We're now moving the office to a different room but I was wondering if crumb rubber underlay was excessive, and Cloud 9 Cirrus (or similar)...

Can't fine mono basin taps suitable for mains CW/gravity HW!

Thanks for all your responses, guys. I'll get a mono mixer (that has a minimum of 0.2 bar) and fit it with a couple of non-return valves and I'll see how it performs. I can always fit a PEV if the mix goes from scalding hot to freezing cold with a degree of a turn. And cheers, DeltaT2...

Can't fine mono basin taps suitable for mains CW/gravity HW!

Our header tank is about 2-2.5 metres above the taps so I seem to have a few mono mixers to choose from if I use a PEV. Where did you see the .1 bar and .2 bar mono basin mixers, mate? I don't mind spending the cash, I just don't want to rip up carpets and floorboards to run a CW gravity feed!

Can't fine mono basin taps suitable for mains CW/gravity HW!

Cheers for your response, flameport. A gravity cold water feed is only really possible if I rip up a lot of floorboards in rooms that have already been decorated. This is something I really want to avoid doing! What about a pressure equalising valve? Will this solve my problem?

Can't fine mono basin taps suitable for mains CW/gravity HW!

Hi chaps, I'm having a new bathroom fitted in a couple of weeks and the basin we've ordered has only got one tap hole. The problem is is that our cold water is mains fed and our hot water is gravity fed - I can't find a mono mixer that can cope with this. Am I missing something??? I quite...

Enough pressure for a mono bath filler?

Thanks, that's great help and I completely understand my problem now. Two taps may fit in the corner of the bath. It might be a bit tight but I think B&Q do some taps that have a smaller footprint. I take it having taps a little closer together or closer to the edge doesn't weaken the bath in...

Enough pressure for a mono bath filler?

Hi guys, I'm just about to have our bathroom replaced and I'm stumped on bath taps. The bath we've ordered has a very narrow edge all the way round which makes the installing of two taps pretty difficult (unless they are placed very closed together). Ideally a mono bath filler would be...

    MCB too small?

Hi John, Actually it's very easy to get the 6mm² out of the conduit. About 2 metres is taking the cable up to ceiling level from the CU (which we're going to box in anyway behind plasterboard or plywood) and the other 2/3 metres is taking the cable from the floorboards up to the isolation...

    MCB too small?

No, sorry. I knew that could be (and probably would be) taken two ways. I meant that the old Wylex board was (hopefully) compliant when installed many many years ago with the regulations then - I didn't mean the current installation was compliant with old regulations! Sorry. Either way, the...
