    GCHQ 2024 Quiz

I had to use an online binary to ascii converter and type the binary in by hand. Spoiler: It says Seasons Greetings

    GCHQ 2024 Quiz

Agree the morse code is a seasonal message, not a place name. The binary code is in the sea. Another seasonal message. (You do need a good quality source of the picture to see it, preferably direct from the GCHQ web site rather than one of the many copies floating around the web). The animal...

Another flow & return flow question

The little double arrow L shaped symbol on your valve body indicates that it will work on both the flow and return end of the radiator.

Please advise me on where this leak might be coming from

Could you show us a photo of where the water appears inside the house?

If ball valve is so great ...

And all that broken up calcium stays in the system and blocks filters on showers and aerators on taps :(

Yes, sometimes just increasing height a bit will allow you to see the drone against the plain background of the sky.

I'm waiting ellal's reply with interest. The only rule that I think you broke was flying it beyond VLOS. I definitely can't see mine at 400m away, my limit is about 240m although it does depend on the background.

    Slab loft insulation question

Agreed, and I know I said bills but I actually have a system set up to record my gas usage on an hourly basis with records going back several years. I was disappointed that topping up the loft insulation made no detectable difference to my gas usage. I expect that the first 100mm of insulation...

    Is this an isolation valve?

Please don't adjust it, you are only likely to create a gas leak.

If you really want to fly it indoors it might be worth investing in a set of blade guards. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005510641607.html (other reputable suppliers available, this is an example not a recommendation).

Sounds right. Some people get the Irish operator and flyer ID's as they are in the EU and the application is in English.

The DJI intelligent batteries automatically self-discharge to prevent damage if they are left fully charged. In the case of the Mini 4K the battery automatically discharges to about 96% of the battery level when it is idle for one day. To prevent swelling, the battery automatically discharges to...

    Slab loft insulation question

I spent some time at the beginning of last winter increasing my 100mm loft insulation to 370mm by laying 270mm fibreglass roll over the top of the existing. This has made absolutely no detectable difference to my heating bills.

Well done for not crashing it indoors. They are much easier to crash when they don't have a good GPS signal. Indoors you have things to hit in every direction.

For your test flight pick a nice big open space outdoors with good GPS coverage (the screen will tell you how many satellites it can see). Sunday might be a bit windy for a first go. :( Remember that those propellers will cut skin so keep it away from yourself and others (and the dog). If you...
