Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

A Y plan could work. Why would this not have been done in the first place? Excuse my ignorance but can a Y plan heat both immersion and rads at same time?

Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

Confirmed - the boiler running the pump but not firing. T

Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

The bypass is adjacent to the pump in the airing cupboard 5 metres away (ten metre flow & return). It would be tricky to fit a rad. This should be unnecessary as the boiler did not overheat before the bypass valve was fitted when there was a gate valve that was partially open. The auto...

Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

Both valves closed it still runs. If hot water cylinder demand met, then heating demand met, both valves close and pump continues to run on a cooling circulation I guess determined by the boiler. I'm pretty sure the pump is wired to the boiler.

Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

Unfortunately each time it boils its probably creating air in the system.

Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

It'd be easy enough to drain from the boiler see what comes out. The boiler is downstairs, the pump & bypass are in the airing cupboard are upstairs. Sediment could be sitting in the boiler.

Gas boiler overheats on valve closure - vented system

I need some ideas on diagnosis of an overheating boiler in a conventional vented central heating system. The system has two valves controlling heat circulation through radiators and a water cylinder respectively. When either of these two valves closes, without the other valve being open...

Extractor fan triggered by shower pump

Thanks for the advice - I'll be having a look at the options over the next few days and discussing with the electrician. I like the look of the Iconfan and can see that installation will be very simple - as long as it runs quiet! Cheers

Extractor fan triggered by shower pump

Thanks for the responses! Preference is to not have any noise - I can't stand the sound of a extractor fans. Whilst in the shower there's plenty of ambient noise - in the bath... Maybe my experience of extractor fans are bad ones - are there almost silent runs available? I have option...

Extractor fan triggered by shower pump

Thank you for the advice. A flow switch would work and be ideal and an overide switch could be in circuit for a non-shower user to use the fan. A humidistat would work but as you suggest I would want to be able to isolate it when taking a bath.

Extractor fan triggered by shower pump

I'm looking for an extractor fan for bathroom/shower room. Ideally I'd like it to operate only when the shower pump operates with a timer to overun. Does anyone know of a product that will connect in this way? Thanks

Mira 88 shower control - Removal without damaging tiling

Had a look at the Combiforce - fell off my stool - lot of money £224. Control came off a treat this morning albeit with a big hole in the wall. Stripped it on the bench - this thing is built so well I'm not going to scrap it. I'll buy some new plastic trims and fit the service kit then...

Mira 88 - Fit service kit

I have a Mira88 with a leak from the centre spindle. Based on experience with another property I went ahead and bought a service kit and new knobs. Trouble is this one hasn't been apart like the last one which was only a couple of years old. This one I can't rotate the big nutted cover...

    Shower Pump choice

The Monsoon's been in the loft a year and is doing really well for a secondhand unit. Its as quiet as it was and really is unobtrussive - not as loud as vacuum cleaner. All I did as a precaution was to mount it on the slab - an acoustic box was unnecessary. Only thing an issue is the way...
