    Help with strange problem

hi all Approx 11 months ago had my bathroom completely renovated. Had a grohe bath filler/shower fitted along with a 2.6bar salamander pump. All working great up until last week. For no apparent reason the hot side isn’t firing as fast as it previously did when filling bath. (Shower seems the...

Heat-only or combi boiler for existing CH/DHW system?

Almost impossible to say without seeing it. For example is your current set up gravity or fully pumped?? You may need to upgrade - this is ££££ where are u planning putting the new heat only boiler ? It Will need new gas supply and new connection to primary circuits - again ££££. Tear the lot...

    Flue distance to fence

Usually 300mm adjacent from boundary. But can be over ridden if causing any kind of nuisance. Check manufacturers instructions if available

    Condensate Pipe for Boiler

Firstly if your front gable is similar in size to the picture I think you'll have a job fitting your boiler there. When u allow for the internal rafters etc it will be really tight. Secondly you can't terminate condensate into rainwater unless you can be sure it shares the drain with foul water...

Please help with boiler/unvented cylinder choice

I think you may have your maths wrong. Filling the bath 1/3 with hot water which you calculate to be 250l then your bath would be 750 litres? Still without any water displacement.

Please help with boiler/unvented cylinder choice

Are you not intending on mixing any cold into your bath water ? Also the bath may well have a capacity of 400 litres, but surely not when 2 people are in it? Water displacement? (The pic looks like a 2 person bath btw?)

    Combi, conventional or unvented cyclinder?

Hi Firstly the boiler isn't the issue. 40kw will walk 16 rads and heat water no problem. You don't give much info about your current hot water set up but I guess you've prob got a vented cylinder with cold water tank in loft? Are your current showers pumped ? Unvented would be the best (most...

Vaillant ecoTec plus 637 OR British Gas 330+ ?

Only output tbh. Vaillant 37kw, bg 30kw. Without actually seeing your property it's hard to say but based on the amount of rads you have I would suggest 40/37 kw is overkill. In fact 30kw could be on the large side. You would have to calculate your rad requirements to be more accurate.

Vaillant ecoTec plus 637 OR British Gas 330+ ?

Bg 330+ is basically a rebadged gloworm ultracom. Gloworm are made by vaillant anyway. Hope this puts your mind at rest

    heating system suggestions

Have a look at Worcester air to air heat pump. I believe one unit would do 150sqm so you would need a couple. Sleek unit ideal for your situation and 500% efficient as well. I think around 2300 fitted Inc vat.

    flue distance from neighbours house

600mm facing the boundary is the minimum, but it's always stated pluming should not cause a nuisance.

Turn boiler down or room stat?

You could look at this in a different way. If it cost say 2k to replace your boiler etc you could potentially at 20% savings on gas save around £240 from your £1200 annual bill. If you leave the 2k in a cash Isa for a year best return on Market at the minute will pay you about 70 quid? Where...

Double convector radiators or plain doubles?

Hi Double panel/double convector will throw out more heat than just double panel and therefore rooms should reach temp quicker and activate trv or room stat. In theory cheaper to run. They are more expensive to buy though. Unless you have very large rooms they are a but overkill to be honest so...
