    Baxi Combi 80 Eco

Sounds like the time switch has gone closed circuit. Is it a built in timer with the little pins all around it? If it is you need to disconnect the link to establish the fault. If this proves to be the problem a new grasslin clock should be readily avalible at a merchant near you. Al

    ravenheat white star spark problem

Bri The flow diagrams are just about the least useful component of the MI's. It is important do test the components that work before the spark - ie fan, aps, lwps ect. It is necessary to eliminate components using test equipment like a multimeter and digital manometer before you buy any...

    ravenheat white star spark problem

It probably isn't anything to do with the spark electrode - lots of other things have to happen before the boiler will give permission to spark. I am in widnes if you need an engineer to repair. AL

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Tony, I am going to go back to the job in an hour. So far the Dhw has stayed hot, so my visit will be to check the air pressure tubes and to have another go at adjusting the CH max burner pressure. Although I spent alot of time on this procedure last time and feel that I did it all...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Update. Went back to job today.. Water in aps tube again... Found the inlet pressure was only 14 mbar, yet 22 mbar at the meter.. Took the gas valve off and got a load of crud and soot out of the filter... Result of that was 21 mbar at the inlet - fantastic!! So I reset the high and low...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Croydencorgi, I think that the inlet pressure has to be a factor in this. It is very low when boiler is at full rate! I adjusted the govenor - like you do or don't do, only to get a slight increase of pressure. I find it hard to understand that this problem wasn't there before...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Tony, Well there lies the rub! The inlet pressure was low! I seem to remember that it was very low.... I had two manometers - one on gas valve inlet and one on the meter.. there was a discepency - I think quite a lot - sorry - been to alot of jobs since so can't...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Croydoncorgi The flue is not tilting back towards the boiler. I got my step ladder and torch and looked from outside to see if water had leaked back along the flue.. I could see dust that had accumulated over the years and no water tracks at all.. Apart from that the general...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Tony, I did think that the angle of the tubes entering the casing might possibly lead to a problem with condensation. I am sure the fault is something to do with this new aps and, or its tubes. You are quite correct in saying that they enter almost horizontally from the aps. But the aps...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Tony, Yes I checked the min and max burner pressure.. In fact before I checked the aps again that is what I thought was wrong, due to to constant cycling.. But they were correct.. The instant I removed the water from the aps tube the cycling stopped and the boiler fired on full rate...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Thanks Andy, I thought there might be some condensing going on. But the aps is new - although I know new parts can be faulty also. Each time I have cleared water out of the tube - it has been about half way along. But there has been a little water in the aps itself. So maybe this fault is...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Cheers Gordon, Well I know for sure that the restictor in this boiler is correct. I actually took the whole flue apart and checked the restrictor - hoping it was incorrect. But it was to Man insts ok. I even said to the old guy who lives there - have you been squirting water in when each...

    Water ingress in aps tubes

Vaillant Turbomax 824 plus First visit - changed aps all ok. The aps on this boiler clicks into position from the top right hand side - at the back of the appliance. It comes with new air tubes - one clear and one blue, presumably for easy identification - they enter the boiler casing...

How to test which pcb ?

Thanks for the replies. It turned out to be the pcb in the end. Not sure if it was a contact in one of the relays or another electronic component. Everything else tested ok. don't like being unsure though, it's very un-nerving. Anyway new pcb and away she went. Tony, I am very...
