    If its a sponge washer replace it with a rubber one. make sure the surfaces are dry and then smear some silicone on the bottom of the washer where it sits on the pan.

    I always use emery cloth, it takes a little longer than a file. but the finish is smoother (less chance of damaging the o ring).

    My suggestion to you is line up the heating engineer who is going to commision the system, and work with him most will be a lot happier to commision your system if they know what you have done is up to spec dont forget you will need to get building control in.

    The problem with this set up as I see is, If you just want cold the pump will still be trying to push the hot through and vice versa probably decreasing the pumps life.

    Then you must have a fortec tank? Is the cold tank built in and on top of the hot. If so what size is it (should be a badge on the tank somewhere to tell you this)
