Terry, Removed the brown wire from T2 and the result= no tripping of the main power RCD, so that sounds encouraging, can you please advise cheers Ian. As you were probably aware this brown wire is part of the loom connecting the other M/V (CH) I guess so I am assuming this points towards a fault...

Cheers for the reply. You are spot on sir the G/Y wire connected to the brown wire terminal 8 goes to a terminal underneath the temp gauge fixed to the side of the mega flow tank. The GY has a red (live ) sleeve on one end but not on the end in terminal 8. I was beginning to doubt myself with...

Thanks for that, I have just checked again, turned the programmer on to CH 'on' left it for 5 mins all ok, as soon as I turn the room stat for heat it trips the RCD. I will try a new room stat although I only replaced the old Hollywell one about 18 months ago.

I was hoping it may be a faulty programmer I have the British Gas UP2 programmer , just found a second hand one on flee bay, if its a like for like replacement would it just be take the old one off the backpkate and push fit the new one ? Actually just found a Drayton LP722 programmer...

To turn the garage lights on the light switch was pressed down for on up for off, now it has reversed, I have not taken the switch plate off, all I did was turn off the isolation switch for the lighting circuit on the consumer unit, and the isolation switch for the outside security lights.
